Staph Infection/ RNY 5-18-04

Hello everyone. I had surgery on 5-18 and went home on 5-21 (open). My incision had become sore - red - and a burning sensation. It turned out I had staph infection - they had to open the incision and drain; now I am on antibiotics for 7 days and clean the scar 2-3 times a day. I am afraid of the word "staph infection". ANyone know of anyone who went thru this?

Hi Chris I'm really sorry to hear about that.....my sisiter in law had the same thing happen to her.She had her surgery done in Germany......they had to lat her heal from the outside in and she had to do all the antibiotics also.She is fine now she had alot of complications cause she couldn't manage to get her water in so just be sure to do what the doc says and you will be fine. Hi...I had Lap, but I did get an infection. I had to take Levaquin for 14 days and change the dressings every day. As long as you take your meds, stay clean, get in your protein and water and follow your docs orders you will be fine. I'm sorry you have to go through this. It's kinda freaky, but it will be over before you know it. I'm now three weeks out and it's all gone. Take good care. hugs JC Lap RNY w. choly May 14 2004
