Hi...I am 8 days post op and until today I was eating a liquid diet....I never really felt full on the liquids but thought that would all change when I went to soft foods....today for lunch I had 4 ozs of cottage cheese which I tried to eat very slowly and I def could have eaten more....for dinner I had a scrambled egg with 1/2 oz of cheese and 2 tablespoons of asparagus....I still didn't really feel full. It seems as though everyone else gets really full from so little I don't understand why I don't. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Linda, you did not mention which surgery you had. Maybe you should call your doctor and tell him the same. I know I am 4 weeks post op and I still can't eat that much food. Don't get upset it is probably something very simple. Sorry I could not help. Brenda in Tx

Linda, I'm 3 weeks out and wondering the same thing until Monday at my daughters house and was guessing at my soup, and I had alittle to much and when I stood up I hurt sooo bad I had to sit back down for 10 minutes. It was a weird feeling, so be glad you haven't felt that. Everything gets better. Best to you. Tina

that's your head talking...just remember, if you actually do feel full you are stretching...you don't want that. stomach tightening was our mechanism pre op that we ate too much but it was too late to do anything about it. we want to eat just enough to sustain us now. Remember...you don't want to eat too much...just enough. Hope this helps, Tanya

Hi... I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and now I am on a soft mechanical diet...I always felt hungry too. But when I asked the doctor I was told because I was on a "liquidy" diet and it passed right through me very quickly. It happens. When you advance to a less" liquidy" diet you will start to feel full. I did. THANK GOD!! I was beginning to worry!! Now all I can eat is a max of 3-4 oz of cottage cheese and nothing else. Sometimes that is too much......GOOD LUCK!!

Linda, I too have this same problem. I even went to my dietician and gave her my diet journal and she emideatly called the surgeon who emideatly ordered an upper GI with a small bowel series to see if something didn't work right...but evey thing is good and normal. I was told even though I can eat that much food not too and to wait 1 minute between bites before taking another. Not to drink before, during, and after the meal for 30 mins. It has helped to a point but I still feel hungry. A typical meal for me will include the following: I went out to eat at a mexican resturant last night 2 triangles-Cheese quesdillias (cut into 4 triangles) 1-Chicken nuggett 1-Motzarrela cheese stick 1/2-Stuffed Jalapino 1/2 Glass unsweet tea (I should not have had but some of the food was dry) Breakfast today: Nothing was not hungry Lunch: 1/2 slice cheese pizza I am trying but it is diffcult. The best advice I have gotten about this is to wait 1 minute between bites and this helped out but I still feel hungry. One thing I know I'm missing is the water which will take up space and maybe I will not feel as hungry as often. I am happy to know that I was able to eat less than I did before surgery but this is still too much. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help but I do know it's nice to know your not alone in this. If you find something that helps I would greatly like to know. Blessings, Alicia
