ONE MONTH DOWN :)
Today (if you go by actual weeks and not dates ) is my 1 month and I have lost 25 pounds ...I lost 16 in the first two weeks and then have been tapering off for the last two. I understood coming in since I had less to lose than others that my weight would come off more slowly and I can deal with that as long as it DOES come off ! I feel much better and my clothes are fitting better and looser My Coumadin intake (which is one of the major reasons I had the surgery has been cut from 5mg each day to the lowest dose of 1.25 per day ALREADY ! YAY!!
I had major hip nerve problems for around 3 weeks after the surgery but now that has healed up ok ..thank GOD !! The only real pain I still have is right under my left breast where it pulls really bad and it hurts ( it is just to the side of my incision line where my skin had opened up but has now healed - Could I possibly have an infection under my skin from when the skin opened after the staples were taken out ? I had Open RNY..) unless I have a VERY UPLIFTING BRA to keep the weight off of that area ...I have no idea what that could be ...but I will probably email Dr if it doesn't get better in the next week or two .. I find I am having more energy every day ..but I still get tired really easily ...Yesterday was the first time I went to super Walmart to go grocery shopping with my daughter and by the end of it (1 hour) I was hugging that cart ! HA !!
Make sure you drink as much as possible ...I am still not drinking the full amount you are *supposed * to drink each day but I am up around 45 oz per day ...I drink water, crystal lite lemonade and No Carb Arizona Green Tea (just found this at Publix and it is good !) ..and remember those SF popsicles !!! I also got some of the ISO PURE PROTEIN DRINKS from GNC in Fruit Punch and Blue Raspberry 'cause I do NOT do well with milk and the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast makes me gag ...YUCK !! I really haven't tried many protein bars 'cause I do not like chocolate too well either and most of them are covered in chocolate Let me know if ya'll have ny you can recommend . I have heard people on the board say that Walmart sells DELITE bars but I have not been able to find any at my area Walmarts
I have been eating in the past week ( I know ..one week earlier than I should but I was TIRED of puree foods and really I chewed them so much it WAS pureed ) ...tilapia baked fish, white crabmeat, Irish sharp white cheese (YUM !! Also at PuBlix with NO SUGAR ) with Breton Wheat Wafers with Wheat Germ (only 50 calories for 3 Big round Wafers) and they are GOOD !!, vegetable soup, eggs, pinto beans with vinegar and onions, dry roasted and salted sunflower seeds and soynuts, and grilled chicken ..Today I am going to try smoked oysters for lunch !! (Can you tell I am a BIG seafood freak ??) Ha !!
The things that have NOT worked for me are any of the SF puddings except for vanilla ( tried chocolate and tapioca and they gave me the runs ), refried beans (tried them for the past two weeks and they still disagree with me ) ,any raw fruits (I tried 2 strawberries yesterday and my stomach hurt for 4 hours ) .. I can eat applesauce and I drink V-8 every day ...and other things that don't come to mind . Everybody is different though Anyway ..I better send this soon before it becomes a book ! Let me know any updates !!
Your MAY friend through *THICK and THIN* !!

Kathy -
It must be something about our name and the ability to have generally all the same issues!
I am also 4 weeks out (May 6) and have lost 27 lbs so far. I also could not stand pureed food any longer and ventured onto chicken, eggs, peanut butter, etc early. I have had no problems and have not thrown up yet. However I did come very close once - do yourself a favor and wait to try chinese food! I have also ate out already too. Boston Market is great - my husband orders chicken with mashed potatos. I grab a little off of his plate and I'm a cheap date.
I too have been having a hard time getting in all my water. It is harder for me to drink it out of a bottle than from a cup. I have no reason why this is and it drives me crazy! I have always carried a water bottle with me, but now find it hard to use. I burp like crazy and it makes my stomach hurt. Go figure.
Anyway, it was great hearing that someone else has also "cheated" a little to get off pureed foods early and that you are doing well.
Congratulations on your loss so far and we should be even bigger losers next month!
Have a great day - Kathy H.
