Hello Brenda, I too had my surgery on 5/4 and in that time I've lost 20 lbs. I thought I was loosing to slow but after reading all the replys to your post I see that I too am on track. It does help to know that I'm doing good even though I've had foods that I shouldn't just to see what would happen and I happen to be one of those lucky ones that has nothing happen so I really have to watch what I eat. The only time I've had a problem is if I eat too fast or swallow before chewing well enough. I have noticed these last couple of days that when I drink something very cold my stomach cramps up so now I have to have room temp drinks. It's a bit rough when you live in FL and it get's to be 100 degrees here! I'll learn to live with it....LOL Hope all goes well with you. Blessings, Alicia 20 lbs of me lost in 4 wks of which I don't miss!

Hi Alicia, you sound alot like me. I have noticed I have also tested a few forbidden fruits (if you know what I mean) and have had no problems. I too have had only a couple of problems with the too fast eating or too big of bites. It only happened a couple of times. I know what you mean about the drinks too cold...and Texas weather I hear is alot like Florida. We have mu*****ommon. I am weighing tomorrow. I only weigh on tuesdays. I don't really want to be obsessed with the scales. Will keep everyone up to date. Nice hearing from you. Brenda in Tx Bye

HI there! I am 4 wks post op today also, surgery was may7th and I have lost 16 lbs. I am starting much heavier than you, 342 so I am not quite convinced that larger people lose it faster. But I am happy nonetheless. !6 pounds is 16 lbs. My total loss since my pre op physical is 33!! Yay

Hey everyone, I didn't notice any men responding so I thought I would. I am a lot bigger to start with 438 lbs with. I too had surgery on May 4th. Now, this is what I've read and been told as facts and I believe to be true as well. 1) The larger the person is to start the faster the intitial weight loss (some of this is just due to water and some is due to there is more to lose). 2) Men lose faster than women - typically because they have a higher muscle mass and the muscle burns calories more efficiently. My weight loss after a week was 17 lbs. No one at the office was shocked or amazed but said for a man my size it seemed about right and I was doing what I was supposed to be doing. By 1 week out I was able to walk a mile a day. I have not been weighed since then but I think I have been losing at a steady pace. I will get weighed in tomorrow at my 5 week mark. Good luck to every one.

Thanx Robin for your reply, you should be very proud. Just remember how long it would have taken you to lose that 16 lbs before surgery. You keep up the good work. Brenda in Tx Bye
