Any one get an infection at the drain site?

Well, it' s over! (May 18 op) The health professionals all think I look fine, but I find I was in lots of pain. The drain was the pain! I feel much better since it's out, but I'm still having hot flashes of pain in my insides, where the drain was. There was an infection on the surface, where the drain entered. It's 3 days later with antibiotics and I find I know when the Tylenol wears off! I found it very hard to get in enough water and stuff when all I wanted to do for the first week was take pain pills and sleep. Sorry to be such a whiner. Has anyone else got the sharp pains inside? Yawning is a two step process, because it hurts.

Oh geesh! I'm so sorry you are going through this. Prayers coming your way. It will get better, probably any minute with the antibiotics. Did you get the cream? If I were you and didn't feel ALOT better tomorrow, I'd call the doc again. You hang in there, Tori

Hi..I had two drains and both got infected. I was on antibiotics for two weeks and now it's healed. You aren't whining. The first week is tough. I didn't have any pain to speak of after my first week. I'd keep my eye on that sharp pain. If it doesn't start to go away soon, I'd see the doc. Don't mean to worry you, but sharp pains sould a little troubling. I had to work up to the water and all my food. You are right, after I got off the pain meds, that all got easier. Hi! Miriam,I didn't get an infection but did get a lot of inflammation at the drain site which caused me to be readmitted for one night a week post op. I still feel sore when I yawn and I do yawn alot!! I'm tired and achy and my belly is still sore. I will say that it is getting better each day.Today I only took one nap for 45 min.Which is an improvement.Good luck ! Mary
