Anyone else have the sharp pain in side and shoulder?
All!
I had surgery on 5/24, feeling kinda blah. I still have the drain in . I go in on Tuesday to have it removed. This surgery feels wierd, like I had something minor like my gall bladder removed, you know? I am on clear liquids for 1 week and "regular" liquids for 5 weeks after that. I am so not excited. Anyway, congrats to all that have had surgery and good luck and Godspeed to those waiting. I have been having HORIBLE pain in my shoulder and side, its liked the pain you get if you eat and then try to run. Any ideas how to releave it? It really hurts! Also I don't know how to drink 64 oz of water, how do you get it all down? The most I have been able to do is 40. Thanks for listening to me "bellyache".

Hi..I've heard others talk about the sharp pain in shoulder. They said it was gas. I felt pretty crummy the first week, but this last week, I've improved a lot each day.
As for the water....since you are on liquids...can't you count that as water? Sorry, I'm on pureed foods, so basically I'm either eating, waiting, drinking, eating...kind of all day. It's the only way to get my protein and water in.
Best of luck

I had my band put in on the 13th and that shoulder thing was terrible. It went away a few days ago for the most part. It still flares up when i haven't relaxed for awhile but it did go away. So give yourself a couple weeks. and as for the water thing, your clear liquid food doesn't count to water intake. Just keep working at it. no one expects you to get it all down the first week. just do as much as you can! I would check with your doc to see if you can get tylenol or something for the pain if it is really bad at night! (PS I have to be on clear liquids for a month then pureed for another 2-4 weeks! yech! I know where you are coming from! )

I have!!! I had pain in my side and a little discomfort in my shoulder. The little side-ache pain turned into horrible side pain. Turns out I had constipation. I would have never guessed that. I never felt like I had to go #2. So, I hope you are going #2, and if you aren't...it could be the big C. if you know what I mean. I had to take magnesium citrate and suppositories. I feel funny talking about it, but I know that I sure am happy that it has gone away and I hope that NO ONE has to feel that pain. Take care. Jenn R. Wisconsin
