Revision
Can someone tell me if a doctor performed your surgery (Open Vbg) is he capable of performing a revision and do they usually if you have gained half your weight back and heading for the full monty! Please help me I did not go through that surgery just to end up back where I was. DIETING DOES NOT WORK. My body is diet resistant and it is very hard to take off weight even WITH the surgery it was a struggle but now it feels as though I can eat what I want. I still cant eat bread, meat, rice or pasta. But you can imagine what I can eat. Ice cream and lots of it. Chocolate. I never had a sweettooth until I had this surgery. Can someone please help me. I see the Dr on June 1st and want to walk in their educated with my plan of action.

Hey, Kim!!
I am in the exact boat as you!! I had my open VBG in 11/98, however, I only got down to 191 lbs.. It has been a struggle since.. and now I am sitting at 265lb (pre-op 284). Is is truly discouraging and disappointing..
I have just recently decided to explore having a revision. I went to an info meeting and now have an appointment with the surgeons nurse in late June.. I am going thru a different surgical group though.. My VBG surgeon was GREAT and has many years experience, however, He is one of the lead surgeons at the U of M and he is a very busy guy. A friend turned me on to a different surgeon and I can already tell the difference, as far as, attention, support and proper counsel on WLS Revisions.. I have no idea if I will get approved or even if I will go through with it, however, I will have more peace of mind know if the surgery failed me OR if I failed the surgery.
Take Care and good luck on your quest!!!
Dana
Kim,
Hi! I know my dr. does revisions in certian situations. You can get contact info and call his office if you want: www.bariatricinstitute.ky.com
He actually talked about this very thing at our support group meeting this month. My surgery date is tomorrow, but you can email me and I can try to tell you as much as I know from our meeting.
Hope I've helped,
Michelle
Even if he isn't an option for you, I bet he could refer you to a surgeon in your area?
hi Dana OH MY I cant believe you struggled and went through all that not to at least reach your goal and feel that feeling. It is very hard and very dissapointing when you walk around feeling thin then poof you blow up again. Genetics is a hard thing to fight but I know it can be beat. If anyone would do a revision I would be on the table right now. I have no problem with another surgery as I would rather die then be big and unhealthly. I hope you are able to at least have that feeeling of reaching goal. It is a wonderful feeling but what a let down when you start climbing again. I know today I took charge of my life. I am not eating sweets anymore, or at least I am gonna try DAMN hard. ALso no eating after six, drink my green tea and more water. And increase my excercise. That should work. There is a website called fitday.com where you can put in what you eat and it tells you how many calories you consumed and so forth it tells you what you can eat to achieve your weight in the amount of time you want. I am trying that but then again I am NOT A DIETER. But I cant go back, it is scaring me soo much. I hope we BOTH make it DORIS.
Here is too trying
