5 days out
When people ask me how I feel, I have to say " I feel better than I did yesterday". Last night I was able to sleep on both sides alternately instead of on just one. The clear/full liquid thing is getting old already, and I'm glad 2 full days of it were in the hospital. I don't start blenderized foods until next Tuesday. I weighed myself at the hospital and don't intend to get on a scale until June 10 when I go back for a post op visit. The rest of my weighings I'll figure out as I go along. Covered my incision to take a shower this a.m. and it felt so good. I was worried about getting my incision wet as the waterproof tape didn't appear to be waterproof, but all worked out ok. Am now, per St. Vincent's suggestion covering the incision with a stayfree maxipad...surgical tape and my binder and I'm set for the day. I feel a bit aimless right now since I can't drive...tv and reading only go so far. I will try a short walk tonight if the rains stay away. I'm trying to fight my "Why did I do this??" thoughts.
Have a good day,all. Kim
Oh, you are so much like me! I had my surg 5-20 and I am really sick of this full liquid. I want my soft foods. I am scared though. I know that there is a lot of stuff that I really like, and I don't want to get any bad habits forming. It's kind of like having my friend (food) a little more back into my day. Does this make any sense?!? I also can drink a lot of Crystal L. and S/F Kool Aid. I never feel full from that stuff. Is that what you experience too?
Jenn, I guess I can't count because I can start soft, blenderized type foods on Sunday. I know that I will start with something that has some FLAVOR!!!! I've been drinking Propel...I'm on my second bottle of the day and when I did a 24oz. bottle of regular water, I couldn't do the bottle in a day. Today I tried Atkins strawberry protein drink...blah! I still have 1/2 to do later this p.m. I just reread my postoperative booklet and realized that I can have strained cream soups, so tomorrow, lunch and dinner. will be cream of something seasoned with some salt and pepper. I mixed plain whey protein with pudding today and it was so so. Carb Countdown Smoothies (13g protein) peach and strawberry aren't too bad. Get one of those glasses with water inside and keep it in the freezer..the drinks stay cold and are more tolerable. Tomorrow I am going to try some Classic Orange Crystal Light and for a protein drink try shaking it with french vanilla protein powder and then putting it in the freezer to get really cold. I know that someone on this site mentioned it being a nice mix ..we'll see.
I am hungry today- increased protein is supposed to help that. I did notice though that when my son brought Wendy's in tonight it made me nauseous to smell it. Let me know what else is working for you. Kim
