My sugrery: Gastiric Bypass RNY and they are going to do it laprascopic.
I will be checking this site later, and going probably to the chat room for more support...

Hi Deborah, I had open on May 11, and plan on going back to work June 1st. I have a desk job so I'll work short days the first week. Everyone is different. If everthing goes well and you feel like going back to work and your doc says it's okay there should be no problem. God bless you tomarrow as you start your journey. Keep in touch and let me know how it goes. tina
Deborah -
Best of luck with your surgery. For me, I had an Open RNY on May 4th at 7:30 AM and I was back home on May 7th at Noon. I started back to work gradually, a few hours on the 18th, a half day on the 19th and then two full days on the 20th and 21st. (with the option of leaving early if I needed to).
Everyone is different and responds differently. My best advice is listen to your body. If I felt tired I slept, if I felt good, I moved. And I always took my vitamins and protein.
Again good luck!
Deborah,
I had a Lap RNY on May 14th and was back to work on 5/20/04. I was able to do about 6 hours and then I got really tired. Listen to your body. I only stayed in the hospital until Monday and was home by noon on that day. Hang in there and listen to your body it will tell you when you are ready to go back. Congrats on your surgery tomorrow. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi, I'm had Lap rny on May 14. I feel great, but very tired and mentally not all that sharp. I plan to take 6 weeks, more to get my new food routine in place and get my strength back. I'm amazed at those that go back in 10 days. I am really still feeling the effects of all the drugs and anethesia on my brain. I stoped taking pain killers after about a week.
Having said that, I'm already taking limited calls from the office and in another week or so, I'll start working a little from here doing email and conference calls. I just didn't want to have to be locked into going to the office each day.
