I am almost 2 weeks post-op and was wondering whether the Atkins shakes are appropriate. They have 20g protein per can and a negligible amount of carbs. Just wanted to try something different. Thanks for any advice. Tracey

Hey Tracey, I bought the atkins shakes and I wished I hadn't, girl I can't stand the taste of them, I almost , but I talked myself out of it and drank some water, but just try one and see how you like it I made the mistake of buying the packs on sale at walmart everyone taste is different. Good luck to you sweetie. Ericka

Thanks Ericka. I bought them on sale as well. I am having so much trouble because anything that is a thicker consistency than water sits in my stomach like a brick! I have got to find a way to get my protein in. I have gotten all the grams in twice this week with Amino Infusion Protein, but it leaves an aftertaste in my mouth. I have to do something. How are things coming for you. I am down 11lbs so far and my recovery has been great. Tracey

HI.. my nutritionist said that the most important thing to look for in the protien supplement is that they have less than 6 grams of sugar. The atkins was one she recommended. I found also .. EAS shakes.. they make many kinds but one has less than 6 grams. I have switched to the powder.. designer whey.. but just check the sugar.. and lots of protien.. powder is much cheaper.. I add 1/3 banana and sometimes a little peanut butter.. sometimes splenda.. it's a great milkshake and very high in protien. in the blender with ice it's a real treat, too.
