What kinds of liquids is everyone drinking?
hi Hetti,
The dietician gave me a list and so I have things like sugar free pudding, sherbert, sugar free popcicles, condensed soups-make sure that you strain them, yogurt with out fruit or fruit seeds. I have not had a problem with these things yet. HTH

Thanks everyone for your responses. I wasn't sure of sugar-free puddings, and I have only bought chicken & beef broths. the top-ramen noodle bases were too strong for me and made me kind of sick to the stomach, so I threw them out. I will probably call my dietician tomorrow & see if she has a list of things also.

My son and I both are 6 days post op and are on liquids. My doctor told us we could have a little oatmeal. That sounded wonderful to have something hot but I didn't like all the carbs. I found a wonderful oatmeal from GNC that has very few carbs. Maybe you can try that. I also read about the root beer float protein shake. You get a can or bottle of diet root beer and leave it open overnite to go flat. Put some of it in with a vanilla protein shake mix and it tastes wonderful. I bought my protein powder mixes from"All the Whey" They taste good and are very cheap online. I also use low carb-nonfat milk beverage from WalMart with the protein powders. If the shake gets too boring, I will make an orange smoothie and put in a little crystal lite orange. I am trying all kinds of ways that we will not get too tired of the liquids. You probably could have some low-carb yogurt also.
Be sure to watch out for caffeine in anything you choose to drink. It will make the digestive system work faster, can cause dumping, and wont help your healing process one bit. Most sodas are loaded with caffeine...so even diet isnt an option. Also be sure to check out the suggestions with your doctors, each person will tolerate different things along their journey, and we all want to do this as safely as possible. Some ideas from my nutritionist are as follows:
Crystal Light
Herbal Tea
Decaf regular Tea
Diet Gelatin (sugar free jello)
Water
Diet Twister
Roses Lime Juice (dilute with water)
Sugar Free Kool Aid
Broth
Ocean Spray Lite Juices
Diet Tang
Diet V8 Splash
Non Caloric Fruit Flavored waters such as Propel, H2o, Glaceau
STAY AWAY FROM VITAMIN WATER! (there is hidden sugar in it, which may upset your tummy)
Consomme
Sugar Free Ice Pops
Miso Soup
Diet Snapple Juices (No Teas)
Arizona No Carb Drinks
** PLEASE BE SURE TO CONSUME THESE SLOWLY AT HOME TO MAKE SURE YOUR BODY CAN HANDLE THEM**
remember your safety first, check with the doctor before trying anything new
You may add lemon, lime, splenda, sweet n low, equal to all the drinks listed above, for flavor to taste.
Good Luck
