Hi April! We share the same surgery date---I came home on Sunday 5/16...had to have two surgeries while there. Why did the JP drain hurt when they took it out? I only felt it slide out barely any pressure. I had this 3-port IV sutchured into my jugular vein in my neck after the 2nd surgery, now that hurt to come out....only the sutchures did. I almost freeked. About the weight, I think I dropped about 13 lbs but I don't go to my doctor until Monday. Best to you April Hettie

I was to start pureed monday and eat like pureed chicken and veggies. Well I have chicken I think stuck since 6pm and it's 10:30 now. Don't hurt just presure. Placing myself back on full liquid diet, I think it's to soon. How is it going with you all? NAT

Nat, good to hear from you? I am on full liquids for two weeks. I am so ready to start on soft foods. I'm not hungry, but I could sure use a change. But my niece had this surgery about 5 years ago and she said that I would feel this way, but it would be worth it in the end. It seems awfully early to start on pureed foods, but I guess it depends on the patient and the doctor. I would go slower than have problems later on by going too fast. It sounds like you did the right thing. That's what I did for some both that did not set right on my stomach...I went back to my ice chips & juices only for a day. Feel much better now. Good luck Nat. Hettie

Hey Nat, You are on pureed foods already???? Girl, I am on full liquids for the first six weeks!!! Then I will move to the pureed meats, etc. I am glad to hear that your surgery went well. Mine did too and I have not had pain since I have been home. I don't see my surgeon for the first time until June 23rd. I wasn't going to buy a scale, but, I can't wait that long to know my progress. Take care, Tracey

Miss Peaches-- I guess the diets are given according to the individual by the doctor or dietician. Because I don't start pureed foods for a few weeks, after the soft foods like puddings, cream soups, etc. I am on full liquids for about 2 weeks when I go back for my first checkup. I am doing well, no hunger pains or anything. So far I have lost about 18 lbs. and it has only been 10 days! My stomach seemed to have shrunk a bit also. So I am seeing positive changes daily. Hettie
