All you new losers....
Morning of my surgery I checked into the Hosp. and they admitted me to pre-surgery area. I changed into a large Hosp. gown. yes it fit. Nurses came in and asked if I knew what I was there for... I told them. They started my IV so my antibotics could go in because I have a functional heart murmur. Oh yes before the IV they wt. me again. 235# and that is down from 248# 1 week before. Then the anethisologist came in and asked the same questions. His asstant came in later and gave me vercid(sp) to help relax. and it works. Then the time came and they made me put my fancy slippers on and put foot pumps on my feet to help keep blood clots out of my legs. they also had my but on this shiny cap over my head and hair. Wheeled down the hall way to surgery. Bye bye hubby.
they had me move to the OR bed one arm with the IV and the other with a BP cuff on it. Had me state my name and birthdate.
There comes the makes take 3 deep breath... makes my head light... and then the next thing I know my stomach hurts and someone telling me to breath deep and cough... I later am wheeled to my room upstairs and see my hubby on the way. I just want to sleep. Morphine for pain. Nothing by mouth till they do a swallow test next day.
Lots of coughing they want you to do and up out of bed to walk. ouch.
I went in on Thursday am. and out to home on Saturday afternoon.
Walk walk walk
Now last week I thought I was going to die. I was so bloated and when I did get to lay down I felt like I could not breath. I sloshed from the inside.
I was hot. no fever. But Thursday am my bowels started working again.. and life is good again.
Hope this helps, if not I just rambled for nothing. ha ha
Hi...I'm not quite up to putting together anything to comprehensive as I just came home yesterday. Not being able to write to well has to do more with pain med than anything else.
Overall, my experience was tough but manageable. No complications and very good care at the hospital. Athough it had tough moments...I still would do it again...
I will say DO EVERYTHING THEY TELL YOU TO DO! The one thing I did not do was walk enough, and I suffered unbelievable gas yesteray. That is very painful. I did well with everything else. In fact, I was chasing them to get me out of bed on Saturday morning. I wanted to get off my back and butt which were aching a bit.
Best wishes.....
