10 days Post-Op - Feeling Great!

I am so grateful to my surgeon, my family and most of all to God for bringing me through my surgery. I can truly say it was a lot easier than I thought. I had only about 24 hours of real discomfort and a little bit of anxiety waking up after the surgery. Everything improved when I listened to the doctor and got up and walked! I wanted to sleep and was a little nervous about moving around. I came home after 2 days in hospital and every day has been better and better. I was given the go ahead by my doctor to start puree foods and even try a baked pototo. I was so scared to eat didn't want to My fears and anxiety were groundless the pototo went down fine and it really tasted good. I am taking things slow, but trying to do everything they tell me. I am amazed that I get full after eating my chewable vitamins. I have to make myself eat. However, I am tired of people asking me "are you hungry yet?" and they all seem to ask "how much have you lost?" before they even ask, how do you feel? But, at this moment in my life, no one can "steal my joy". I feel blessed by God and supported by my family. I go out every day walking for at least 20 minutes. The strength is not back completely since I fine I tire easily. I am constantly amazed that things have gone this well and pray that my recovery continues in this manner. Best wishes to all the May Surgery Folks, This is our month to shine! We will all be dancing real soon. Good luck to you all Lynda S.

Glad to know you are doing so well. I'm 2 weeks post-op, but my Lap turned into a partial Open, and I spent 2 days in ICU, so my recovery is not quite as speedy as yours. I'm still on full liquids and having real issues with soy and Splenda in shakes and drinks. However, I am doing much better than most thought I would be at this point. I even managed to shave my legs the other day! mpf

That's so awesome that you are doing so well. I'm two days post op and I"m feeling really well, but I was wondering, first of all, which procedure did you get? i got the lapband. I'm so excited to see people on this website who got this surgery done. Makes you feel like you are part of a community. Well, I wish you a lot of luck! jessica

Hey Jessica My surgery was on the 7th too. Im actually back at work as of yesterday 5/17. (only part days since i tire easily). I was in the hospital for 6 days since my bowels were sluggish after surgery. I am supposed to be only on liquids but I do eat crackers, toast and had a couple of bites of meat already. I do get very hungry. Everything I have eaten has done fine. I have not gotten sick once. I am almost afraid that my pouch is too big LOL. I am losing though. Unfortunately I had gained almost 33 lbs of fluid while I was in the hospital. Check these numbers out.
