Home from surgery

Went in May 11th, home today. Everything went well although I am much sorer than I anticipated. The staff (with the exception of one nurse) was terriffic. Anyone else having great difficulty getting out of bed to a standing position? OUCH! Congrats to everyone who made it through the week! Jen

Congrats on getting home already! I had my surgery last Friday, 5/7, and got home on Tuesday. So far so good. I had some difficulty getting up and around for the first four days, but now the only problem is a slight discomfort when I cough. Walking helps a whole lot! Hope things are going great for you... I had surgery thursday 6th May, and got to go home in the afternoon of the 8th. I found out getting back in bed in the right place was the hardest. Swallow test was not the most fun, drinking 2 glasses of sour liquid then moving the table to a standing postion, hurt like crazy. Doing so much better now. I have pain when coughing, I think the coughing is still trying to keep our lungs clear due to the fact we are not moving as much as we did before. I hurt when standing up, bending over some, and arching backwards in my rib area. I still have some draining from the large cut area, but it getting smaller.

good luck on recovery, i can relate to the soreness. i had my surgery on the 11th also. i am short so have found it difficult to sit back in a chair. pillows stacked behind my back have helped. glad to be a loser vicki
