Surgery 5/10, home 48 hrs later!!!!
I had my surgery Monday am & could have gone home Tues afternoon but we all thought staying until Wed am would be a good idea since I have 3 children under the age of 7 at home. No complications other than headaches from not taking deep enough breaths, especially when sleeping. My advice - use your spirometer as much as possible and get home oxygen if needed! I didn't have the leak test because of my allergy to iodine but everything seems to be working ok... I rarely even take anything for pain! So for those of you waiting, it's not as bad as I feared. For those already post-op, do you feel bloated? I sure do! Thanks for everyone's prayers & good wishes.
Hi Patricia, I had my surgery on May 3rd. Open RNY I am still up at night to get pain meds, or just simply can't sleep. Re your bloating, I was told by my doctor that once they clamped my G-tube and I was still feeling bloated to go ahead and vent it. Meaning pop the top off, lean over the potty and let some of the Nasty green stuff pour out. After that, simply snap the top back on. I did that a couple of times. Wonderful, solved my bloating problems! Hope this helps. Do you still have your G-tube in? Hope your recovery is going well! Hugs Erin Emerson
