All May surgeries...
Dear Melissa, If you are looking for an angel I would be happy to take on the job. Email me at [email protected]. An angel is someone who provides support before and after surgery. They keep up with your condition in the hospital and after and usually report back to the others on the message board your condition and well-being. All you have to do is ask for one usually on the message board or you may find someone you particularly like and asked them to take the job. Everyone who is going through this needs someone who understands what is going on. I am 9 days post op and I do have a little advice for you. Have a great support person there with you it will make all the difference. If you have the spirometer breath with it and it can save your life. Sip, sip, sip. Try to get as much water as you can when you are in the hospital and especially at home. Do not drink cold water too fast because it can really hurt. Sip it and maybe hold it in your mouth a few seconds so that you can get the cold sensation and warm the liquid at the same time. Prepare for feeling hot and keeping the hospital room like an iceberg. This happens commonly from the morphine. Tell your family so that they will bring a jacket. MOST IMPORTANT! Do what your doctor and nurses say do. When it is time to walk you will not feel like it, do it anyway. It will begin to make you feel alot better. My doctor provided us with teddybears so I recommed getting a favored pillow or buy yourself a bear to hold against your stomach when you have to cough it helps.
