First of all I just want everyone to know, I am praying for everyone to get a chance to join the loosing side, a perfect surgery, speedy recoveries, and a healthy new them. Second, I am loosing my mind. It seems since I have recieved my surgery date that time has stopped or should I say is crawling very slow. Time has always passed me right by and I would say boy where did the time go. Now I look at the calendar numberous times a day as if the day has changed already. I try to stay busy with chores and with my family and also on here. It is not working I must say! I feel the urger to go to bed and not wake till it is time, even thought that is not something that is even possible. How are some of you making it through the days? Those of you who have already had your surgery, Congrats! What are some of the things you are encountering post-op? Plus anyone know how to get an angel, and what they actually do? Thank you anyone who has some input. Again bless you all and you are all in my prayers- Melissa

For me, I was working, and very busy at work. The first 2 weeks went by slow, but this past 2 weeks, have flown by. I can't believe my surgery is tomorrow....already! I think time will go fast for you too, but maybe you are just thinking too much.?? Anyway, I don't know how you get an angel, I still don't have one, and I don't think it matters. I am going to have my best friend post messages for me after my surgery to let you all know how I was doing, but she will probably just post on the regular main board because she doesn't know her way around. Good luck! Tricia

Tricia, good luck on your surgery tomorrow. I wish you the best and hope that all goes smoothly for you. My surgery will be a week from Monday and I must admit time seems to be going very slowly for me. I think I am ready for the most part. Anyway, best wishes for all those who go before me, and for those of you after, we are pulling for you too! Lots of love, Wendy

I will list some of the things I have been doing to try to make the time pass. You know we all have the stash of clothes we always hoped would fit again shoved away in some box somewhere? Well I have pulled out those clothes and washed them. I have them organized by size into smaller boxes so as I fit into them I can just pull out the new box of clothes that fit. I have also gone through all of my clothes and bagged some up to give away. For instance, I know that the winter clothes that I have right now will not fit me by the time that winter gets here. TOSS! Also, I have some maternity clothes that fit me still from when I had my last daughter. TOSS!! And while I was at it I found some stuff that I hae gotten along the way and never even worn or truly intended to. TOSS!!! I can't tell you how liberating it is and also how satisfying it is to pull out those clothes I always promised myself would fit again someday... and knowing that they really WILL, and will even get TOSSED themselves for smaller clothes! I have also been trying to shop to prepare for what I will need as far as food choices. I have plenty of SF jello cups, I need SF popsicles, I have broth (different kinds) and 2 kinds of Crystal Light. I have protein shakes ready for when I can start having heavy liquids, and lots of food that don't seem like they would be bad after a trip to our good ol friend the blender. The last appointments have been keeping me on the go too, as well as getting prescriptions filled for my pre-op antibiotics. I have also stocked up on things to do while I am in the hopsital (new book to read and a few magazines) and when I get home. Top all that off with some last minute cleaning and you've got it.

Thank you all for helping find ways to pass time! I have already gone through all my old clothes and have them washed and in big rubbermaid bins with the sizes written on them as I go down in weight. I have lots of great clothes that go all the way down to a size 15, so that should hold me for a while I hope I can get even smaller than that afterwards. I try reading books, but my mind seems to wander back to surgery.I have my protein shakes ,new scale, lol I haven't had a scale for 2 years, a pedometer to measure my walking, and foods like in broth and jello etc. I have written in my journal, but was mainly keeping it for my surgery and out so I could look back at all my success and even some downfalls. I will try to write in it more. Reading and keeping up with all of you on here has helped also, however my computer is a dinosaur and is extremeley slow. It takes me a good 15 min just to reply sometimes. After my surgery I will not be by a computer, and don't know who could keep all of you updated with my condition. I will be back home about 2-3 weeks after surgery and will get on then though god willing. Again thank you all so much and if you think of anything else please let me know.

Congrats to all of us May surgery people!!! I was just given my surgery date last Thursday, for surgery on May 27th!! I know it's going to crawl, but actually the 4 days since I found out have flown by... I'm thinking of all the things that have to be done at home and at work before I go in to the hospital... and I'm wondering how it's all going to get done... I, personally, am going to throw myself into my work and try to get as much done there as I can, so that I don't have that to think about afterwards... in addition to my day job I also run a small business out of my home and there is a lot to do there too... Getting ourselves ready for this surgery is the main thing... we need to spend this time getting the kitchen cleaned up... out with the old to make room for the new us!!! Go out and buy your little 2 oz. cups for making sf jello and sf pudding in... get things ready for your return from the hospital while you are feeling all perky... and then while you are recovering, you can know that it's all done already!! Have a good variey of all the post op "food items" (and I use the word "food" litely, as we are all going to be drinking broth, eating jello & sucking on sf popsicles) ~~ They say that a lot of the things we like before surgery, wo won't like afterwards... I have probably 4 cases of Crystal Light in my house, in all different flavors... I'm ready for anything!! Take time to go through the closet... out with the old!! I have one side of my closet ready for size changes all the way from 30/32 down to 14... just a few items in each size... So that I don't have to worry about it!! Take time to clean out your drawers of things that you aren't ever going to use again... take time to clean out the kitchen of things you aren't ever going to eat again... clean your house, so when you come home from the hospital, you come home to a clean house... The other thing I am doing is writing letters... to all my friends and family both near and far... letting them know I love them and how much I appreciate them. Not that I think I won't be around afterwards to tell them, but it certainly uses up a lot of time and it's good to keep in touch with people... Your friends & family are so important at this time!! And the main thing now, is prayer. Pray for peace and for strength. Not only for yourself and all of us, but for all the surgeons and the surgical teams out there... I know it's hard to read a book because our minds do wander... but maybe instead of trying to read a book, go for a walk and stay active... it's not only going to help our minds, but our bodies as we prepare for this big change... We really need to be ready physically and mentally. I don't know that I'm there yet... so I'm really trying hard to stay active and to still go to the gym even though I really don't want to!! But, I know I have to!! Remember... Worrying does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles, it empties today of it's strength!! Good luck to all of you... especially those of you going in tomorrow and the next day!!!! My prayers are with you!!!! For the rest of us going later this month~~and later this year... Do good things for yourself... try not to think about it too much... It's going to be here before we know it!! If anyone has other ideas for dealing with the waiting time... add your input... we are all here to learn, to grow and to be there for each other!! Loree

Hi Melissa! I know how you feel--my surgery is May 20 and I too feel time is crawling by! Usually I'm saying "Wow, today is Friday already, etc. etc.," but it seems that it's only Wednesday and next Thursday is forever away. But, as some others have mentioned, I've went through all my clothes and have (eek!) 14 plastic totes and boxes full!! It does feel good, though to get rid of all those big things and await the day I can buy from somewhere other than Fashion Bug plus or Lane Bryant. Even their stuff is getting snug. I have my pre-op physical tomorrow, so that helps make things seem closer. But I wish you the best of luck with your surgery and will you a speedy, problem-free recovery!
