clear liquids for 5 days?

I am wondering why i am on clear liquids for that long? I cant even have a protein shake. I Know i need to lose a little weight, but i think i could lose pretty good with just one protein shake a day till day before. What do you guys think. Crystal, I was on a liquid diet for the week before surgery, and on clear liquid the day before. The sf popsicles saved me! It is supposed to shrink the liver which they have to move out of the way when they operate. It's tough, I know, but it will all be worth it!!! I am 5 days preop and my doctor still has me on a clear liquid diet for the week after surgery. I am feeling GREAT with no pain at all today. Hi Crystal, You are so lucky to only be on All Liquids 5 days. I have been on all Liquids since April 28, and my Surgery is this coming Wed. May 12th. I will be on ALL Liquids for 4 more weeks after Surgery. For a total of 6 weeks. Every Doctor is different. My BMI is down to 38 but this is the way my Doctor has it for all his patients. Out of the 3 years he has been doing this surgery he has lost none of his patients and only had 2 leaks. So I'm sticking to the All Liquids as he says for it's worked out great for all his other patients. Jean
