6 days til surgery!!!

Hi. I am scheduled for surgery in 6 days (5/12/04) and I am not scared, but a lil anxious, I think. Excited, definitely! I am taking 1 wk off of work, and I am wondering if that is enough time for me to be back. My surgeon says it is suffiecient recovery time. Another question I have is what the average weight loss is within 6 mo, and at 1 yr.

hi christine, my surgery is one week from today and its "open" so i'll have a bit longer recovery time. i'm heading to walmart after the wls support group tonight to buy the things i need for the hospital and SOME of things i may want when i get home. i'm working through next tuesday so that should keep me busy..................... i don't know if there's really any average weight-loss as we all started out at different weights, but, i think people lose 10 to 20 #'s per month on average in the beginning; i sure hope so, anyway. good luck to us and i look forward to comparing notes. gail

I will be having it done lap. and he says 1 wk should be ok, but Im a bit skeptical...lol. I am only taking a wk off of work simply because that is all the vacation time that I have available. I will be working til Tues also. Ill keep u guys updated.

6 days til surgery, for me too!!! I am so excited as well. I am having open, and am going to take off 2 1/2 weeks, and then for about 2 more weeks come in only part time. Whatever I need because I know that I will still be low on energy. I hear that most people feel great about 4-6 weeks after surgery, so take off as much time as possible. Good luck! ! Tricia
