My Pre Admission testing done 5-4-04
Well everyone, I had my pre admission testing done yesterday and everything went well except for two things. One of the things that I found out was that by B-12 count is a little low but I just have to take 250 mg of B-12 orally until next Tuesday May 11th , which is my WLS date. When I met with the doctor for my initial consult he went over the open procedure as well as the lap procedure so I was under the impression that he preformed both and that I could choose which one was best for me. I sat down with my family a couple of weeks ago and talked about the different procedures and I decided that I wanted to have the lap procedure done. Today something told me to ask my surgeon what procedure he has me down for. I was just informed today by my surgeon that at this time Bariatric Treatment Center of Ohio only perform one procedure and that is the open procedure. I am so glad that I asked him again because if I would have woke up with the one big incision and I was expecting six small incisions on my stomach, I probably would have cried. When I came back home today I talked it over again with my family and told them what went on. I guess I will be having the open procedure now. When it really comes down to it, it really does not matter as long as my surgery is successful and everything goes well. I wonder why my surgeon went into details with me about a procedure that he does not even perform? I feel he should have made it extremely clear what he offered. I know that safety is # 1 but I feel I should have been given a choice.
