I have been scheduled for surgery on the 21st of May. Basically 3 weeks. I have already been walking alot. I would be grateful for any information any of you have as to how you prepared as the date gets closer, and what you are doing to prepare your home for your return there. Please e-mail me as I see that more than anything else. Thank you so very much!!!

As an occcupational therapist, I have modified the home environment for 20 years for other people... now I am doing it for myself. Most things will depend on how your environment is already set up, what is important to you, and what it will take for you to do what you want to do. I have a list of items on my web page. Some of the items I consider to be are essential are: Reachers; can be obtained at a medical supply store Tongs: will be used for toileting but can buy in a housewares department of any store Ozium: air freshener that you can only buy in automotive stores Body Pillow: to help with positioning after surgery I am tall, so, I also built a platform for the recliner that I will be sleeping in for awhile. That way, it won't be so difficult for me to get in or out. Hope this helps some. Again, feel free to take a look at my page, there is a lot more information there! Goodluck!
