I have a surgery date! I am so scared!

I got a notice in the mail yesterday, I have a date of 11 May in Reno, NV. My pre-op appointment with Dr. is on the 5th of May, also I have to go to a meeting that night ($200.00 fee)...then off I go on the 11th, my little bag in hand (no not my husband), although he will be there too... I am so nervous.....have been waiting since September of 2003...it has been a long journey and I think it is really just starting. Any words of wisdom from any of you? Would appreciate some from those that "have been there and done that". Boss doesn't like the idea of me being off work for two weeks, but oh well, it is not his life right? And I work for the government so actually I work for myself, in a round about way.... I have been married for 31 years....this is the most difficult thing I have had to do...

Hi Emley, Welcome to the May Surgery Board. We are all pre-ops. 11 people on this board are having surgery on May 11. You are not alone on that day or in how you are feeling right now. Everyone is nervous, excited and scared. We just need to be there for each other. Jean

Hi Jean! Sounds like I am in good company! I have a support group meeting on Wednesday, this will be the last one before my surgery....they will sure be surprised! Good Luck on yours! Emley Ruth
