5 years post op and IRON DEFICIENCY
HI. I'm wondering if anyone *****ads these posts is at or around 5yrs post op and is having major issues with iron deficiency.
Today I'm 154 lbs. Iron 22, Ferratin 2, Saturation 5%, Hemoglobin 8.6.
My PCP has referred me to a Hematologist. My appointment is next thursday. She thinks I will need to get Iron Infusions. I've seen some posts online but they are old.
Has anyone gone through this Iron Infusion process? Were you as scared as I am? I've read posts about reactions! Also, do you actually feel any better. I am so tired and lethargic. I can sleep all day!
Thanks. Yoli

I had iron deficiency issues also. But had iron infusion a little over a year ago. I eating ice like a maniac!! All I thought about was ICE, which is a sign of iron deficiency. It is an 8 hr procedure, they hook you up to an IV with a couple of bags of iron, looks like chocolate. They gave me high dose of something to help me relax. But I could not sleep because I was first not able to lay down in the chair I was in, and second I was in a cancer center where people were in and out constantly. Otherwise, when it was over with, I was immediately cured of the ice eating. I mean I had NO taste for ice again. I am able to eat a little ice now, but not like I was before. I can let it go!! There is nothing to worry about.
