Wow...life has been busy! Wifey and I were driving home last night and I suddenly realized, "Hey, today is May 20! Yesterday was my 2 year anniversary!" So...turned the car around and went to Su****rack for my annual celebration. So...the last two years... Textbook surgery, recovery and loss. Got down as low as 212lbs, size 36 pants (13 pounds from goal, and smaller pants that I was hopeing for.) Then life kicked in, I got lazy and over the winter of 2005, I creapt back up to 240. Luckily, I was able to pry my eyes open and think "Waittaminute!!!" and got back on track. I've been doing BFFM for about two months now, along with weight training and cardio, and the results have been great. I'm back down to 225 and my body fat has dropped 6% since I started. Should be to goal by mid November or so. I can eat a lot more than I used to, but still not as much as I sometimes think. When I start getting concerned over my intake, I go out to a healthy dinner with frineds and order exactly what one of them is having, that really help me see that I'm still only eating about 1/2 of what a non-surgery healthy-weight man my own age eats (and about 1/4 of what I ate pre-surgery!) I think the biggest eye opener I've had is that regardless of surgery, at some point, I HAD to slowly increase my calories to what a body requires to run. I spend several months stalled in starvation mode and responded with my typical "life long dieter" mentality...I cut more calories. When this didn't work, I got depressed and satrted slipping the junk back in. I didn't lose any weight, but I DID end up in the hospital, where my doctor blew a gasket when he found out I'd been average 600 calories a day for the last three months! He convinced me to slowly (100 calories or less per week) increase my calories on a 50/30/20 plan of protein, carbs, and fat. I'm now averaging between 1900 and 2000 calories a day and losing 1-2 pounds per week. Weight loss (actually FAT loss) started again at about 1600 calories and has INCREASED each week. So all of that to say. I'm really happy with how I'm doing and have learned, yet again, that there's always something new to learn. Blessings, -Perk

Hi Perry, Glad to see you are doing so well know. IT all goes back to what we heard in the beginning..."It is only a tool." We really realize once we are a few years out and have recommitted to using that tool how wonderful it really is. I too have dealt with some gain and relost that after getting back on track. I am back at it again as of today. I've allowed myself to creep back up to the high normal BMI range and want to remain in the middle. Congrats on all your success and hope to see you celebrating many more anniversaries. Christie
