I'M SKEERRD

My doctor did not recommend any particular type of vitamin - maternity or otherwise. He did tell me, though, that I would no longer find any benefit from calcium carbonate. I now supplement with calcium citrate (and disregard any calcium carbonate in ingredient lists). What kind of calcium is in the maternity (multi)vitamins? The type of surgery might make a difference as to the kind of calcium supplement that can/should be taken ... i.e. calcium carbonate vs. calcium citrate. Keep in mind too to take calcium pills at different times than when eating foods with iron or when taking an iron pill (calcium decreases how much iron you absorb). Google these questions for more internet information: a) calcium citrate or carbonate for bariatric patients ? b) can I take iron supplement at the same time as calcium supplement ? Personally I find Costco is the best value for my vitamin and supplement needs. Also the 2-for-1 sales that come along every so often at various pharmacies and grocery stores in my neighborhood. Take care and good luck! CF
