I'M SKEERRD
Thanks for the Rant.
I am in Ottawa and here they are also waiting for the necessay funding to begin performing weight loss surgery at the Ottawa Civic Hospital. With that said, I can see the first few years worth of funding going to buy bari beds, larger chairs, reinforcing bathroom fixtures, buying larger operating tables and necessary equipment, over sized gowns and training staff on the care of the obese.
There doesn't seem to be hope for this to get off the ground soon enough. There are currently 200+ people in Ottawa on waiting lists for surgery and doctors here are encouraging patients to wait it out until the surgery becomes available here instead of going to the states.
Also, where is the choice?? There are only 2 surgeons in this entire country doing DS and they have waiting lists of up to six years!! That is outrageous considering it is the fastest growing weight loss surgery in the world.
I feel the frustration too, I think we all do, I would like to recover in my own city with my own family in my own bed but instead I'll be alone in a hotel somewhere else.
We need some action from the government, we pay or taxes and should expect better and faster care!
PHEW!!! I feel better now!

You can't say anything wrong if it is indeed the truth! Remember you want to be emotionally healthy as well as physically. All things happen for a reason! I can honestly testify to that....been there done that!
I wish you the best! Good luck!

I just wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and hope all went well. I remember being very scared as well with the psych eval and the nutritionist, but then found out the both were very easy..I was just honest, prepared for any backlash if they let personal views come to play in their professionalism..and when it came time..it went smoothly. **hugs**

Thanks so much! All did go well at the psych consult. He said he would send his letter of recommendation over to the surgeon by the end of this week. I'm not as worried about the appt with the surgeon as I was. Now the fear is all about the insurance company. I have BCBS Blue Care. As far as I can tell I meet all the requirements they have, but you never know what they may come up with. I'm gonna leave it in the Lords hands. I want his will. Please continue to pray for me.
HI Debbie, my American dietician recommended a Canadian vitamin and for once I can actually stand taking it. It is the Chewable VitaVim Adult Multivitamin, by Jamieson, containing no sugar, no salt, no starch, no gluten, no lactose. I find that it is easy to chew ( I HATE chewable things) and it has a nice flavour (not fake). It dissolves super quick and leaves no after taste. They come in bottles of 60 and I found mine at Walmart.

Thanks everyone. I can't believe the difference in Doctors. None of your Dr's recommended a maternity vitamin? Dr Reed said the maternity vitamins have a higher calcium and iron count that's why he suggests them. Went to Nutritionhouse today and they want $41.00 for a bottle of Mat Vits that you have to take 6 a day.....I don't think so...
