Hello, I too am new to this group. I had my open RNY the day before you on 5/21/03. I started at about 333 lbs and currently weigh 172 lbs with a personal goal weight of 155 lbs. I am 5'6" and 35 years old. I don't have much excess skin except on my upper arms and I have a consult scheduled with a plastic surgeon for March to find out what they can do for me. Talk to you soon, Susan 333/172/155

I too am 20 months out (5/21/03) and have days where I could eat a horse! Most days tho' I stick to the basics - scrambled egg, bacon, cheese for breakfast, salad with turkey and egg for lunch and meat w/veggie for dinner. Now, on a not so good day I will eat an egg mcmuffin for breakfast, some pistachios for a mid-morning snack, soup and salad for lunch, popcorn or oatmeal for afternoon snack, meat w/veggies for dinner and a few oreos around 9 pm. Hey, I said it was a not so good day! I am about 17 pounds away from my personal goal but under the goal my MD set for me. I am currently losing about 1-2 lbs per month. -Susan 333/172/155

I'm 18 months out ... or probably more like 19 months here in a few days!! I try to eat about ONE CUP maximum at a time. My problem is that I seem to be eating MORE OFTEN than I was for some time. So that isn't so good!!! AND sugar doesn't bother me in a bad way -- except ONCE in awhile for short times. So ... my old nemesis is back!! *smile* I suppose the thing to do is to get back to the protein (oh did I SAY that???) ... I only say that because I have a friend who is on Atkins - and she said the other day that she liked it because she STAYED FULL. I think that is the key. I like to feel FULL and if I am not FULL then I think I'm starving! Don't give in to the old ways -- drink more water!! Eat celery! Eat raw veggies and fruits ... you can't eat enough of THOSE to gain weight!! GOOD LUCK!

Kim Your weight loss is INCREDIBLE!! Good for you! Hard to believe the time flies so quickly, isn't it? People ask me (like I'm an EXPERT???) about my surgery -- especially if they are contemplating it. I tell them all the time ... just DO IT!!!! It's wonderful! I'm 5'10" and weigh 155 (though I feel like my clothes are a bit looser the last few days - so maybe I need to weigh myself again). I wouldn't mind losing another 10 pounds. But it hasn't happened yet -- and I'm not going to fuss to much!

Hope everyone is doing well with this new year apon us. I am 20 months out, I had my surgery on 05/15/03. I started this journey at 420lbs... I reached my goal and then some... My goal was 250lbs and I was 236lbs for a couple of months.. Then over the Hollidays I have slipped up a little and gained about 15lbs... (Not the end of the world but I not very happy about it) Anyways seems like I am always hungry now...? Eating way more then I ever have since my surgery? What I am wondering is what is everyone else eating at 20 months out...? What is your meal routines for each day?

My surgery was 5/22/03. I started 256lbs and now I am at 126lbs. I have been through a lot in the past 19 months. But my weight loss has stablized for the most part. I am glad to have found this group and get support from people like me. Thank you ! and Happy new year!

Topic: RE: EATING MORE
Hi Lori! I'm there with you! I had my surgery is 5/03 and am experiencing the exact same. I'm getting married this Saturday and my entire body is in some weird hyperdrive and this week I'm no****ching protein.. but to give you an example... at 7:30AM I had 3 pks of Quaker instant oatmeal w/splenda.. at 8:00 I had a pack of 6 crackers and cheese. Nibbled down 2 cookies from the breakroom around 8:20AM. 10AM I indulged in a 1/2 can of refried beans w/about 1/2 cup of cheese melted on top. Around 10:50 I had about 1 cup of cheez it's. Compared to my 1/2 cup portions of just a month ago I feel that I'm eating way too much and way too often... and this week not even the right foods. So, please don't feel alone with this - I have heard other's mention it happens and to just be cautious about the amount you eat. My sister (who also had surgery) tries to just eat 3x per day - protein packed meals. We're all different! Best wishes! Diane

Topic: Mexico LAP surgery-INPUT NEEDED
I had my surgery in WA State in 5/03. My son is now considering having surgery but due to lack of insurance coverage he'll be a self pay. He's looking into Mexico options and wanting to do this in February. Would you be willing to send me your info good and bad on any Mexico options. Narrowed down to Ensenada/Mexicali/Monterey. Thank you so much! ([email protected])
