No better place to look for correspondents than on the May 2003 board I suppose. I had OPEN RNY on 5/15 and am feeling great. I have not had any complications, I did have an abcess drainage at home which freaked me out, too bad they didn't inform me about that earlier. I am now in the gym 4 times a week, riding the cardio bike every night and have noticed the same weight loss in the last week as the two previous weeks when adding the exercise. Anyway, I am at work so can't post much I guess. Wishing you all the best of luck, take care. Jason

Hi. I had surgery on 5/6/03. I have lost 56 lbs so far. It seems we are very close in pounds lost. Congratulations and good luck and continued success.

Topic: One month down!
Today is exactly one month since my surgery. I still have such a hard time feeling hungry enough to eat. Once a day - usually around late afternoon I get hunger pangs and look to eat. Anyone else having a similar experience. I'd like some advice on getting an appetite (I thought I'd never say that)! Hope everyone is doing well!~Sandy (5/21/03 -30lbs)

Hi Paula! I am 4 weeks post-op, and I can tell you that it is definately worth going through with WLS. (Weight Loss Surgery) During my pre-op physical 2 weeks prior to WLS, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My Dr. immediately put me on oral insulin to bring my blood sugar level down before surgery, which was effective. I have had High blood pressure for many years, and took 4 medications for that and my heart, as well as a diuretic to keep my legs from swelling with edema. Since my surgery, I am off of all meds for Hypertension, as well as off the diuretic, and the insulin. I saw my Dr, today, and I have lost a total of 65 lbs., Can breath again when I walk; Can walk a good distance without sweating profusely, and feel like I have bought myself an extra 25 years of life or more! Please! Go through with it. For your health, Yourself, and those who love you and are concerned about your morbid obesity.
