Topic: RE: When to start back at Curves?
Hi Lori: I am also a Curves member, soon to be 2 years in Sept. I had my RNY surgery the same day as you. My doc told me I could go back at 6 weeks. I am having my 6 weeks check up tomorrow and plan to return the next day if that still holds. I have been walking a hour each morning, but you are so right, even in Wis it is getting to hot and humid for that. I hope to start bike riding again as well. I am sure that since we are all different, you should ask your doc and follow his orders. but it will be sooooo good to get back to Curves and get some of these smaller but flabby areas into shape.
How are you doing food wise? I am having problems with my evening meal and trying to eat meat--chicken esp, which I thought would be easier--I chew and chew but after only 4-5 bites I may upchuck. Any suggestions?

Topic: Help-going to Mexico on vac-11 weeks post op
I need some suggestions for easy food to take along, esp protein. I plan on taking Alba and non fat dry milk. However, I am having problems eating meats, chicken and keeping it down-I guess I am having the dumping syndrome and am baffled as the first 4 weeks went so well. Any suggestions youcould give would be greatly appreciate. I was to start back on regular foods today but based on the problems I am having at dinner with the meats I am afraid to go ahead. Thanks
Topic: RE: almost 2 months
hey we had surgery on same day i have lost 50 pds so far doing good . hope you doing better do you have problems with eating today i ate chicken and threw up do you still do that ?
Topic: RE: Am I alone?
Nope, you're not alone. I had my surgery the day after your's and am stuck at 46 lbs. I figure I have all the time in the world and the weight WILL come off! Good luck and HANG IN THERE!
Topic: RE: Am I alone?
No you are not alone. I had surgery May 12, 2003. I am 8 weeks post today and have only lost 34 pounds. I am not eating much and am active at work. I drink a lot of fluid and it seems like the weight just isn't coming off very fast at all.
Topic: Am I alone?
Hi, I am 7 weeks postop. At 6 weeks post op I had lost about 42 lbs. I don't really feel as if I am losing fast enough. Am I alone here, does anyone else feel this way? My Dr. says that I am doing fine, but I have talked to others who have lost alot more than me! I am eating so little, that I don't know how I could eat any less and survive.
Topic: Hi ya'll :)
Wow, what a 2 months it has been. Isn't it crazy, the stuff we go through in that initial 2 months. The last 2 weeks have been the easiest of the whole the journey so far. For those who want to read my earlier entries, you can click on the links below and they will take you there. It is a fairly accurate accounting of my journey from pre-op and approval to today I have not got the words to describe how I feel today as opposed to 2 months ago. First I am *drum roll* 43 pounds light, yep you heard me.....43 pounds gone from my life, that I don't miss at all. Second, I am fitting into clothes that haven't fit me for 5 years. Third, I feel like I have gotten back in touch with myself, something I know that has been missing. I was reading some journals I found last night, all the way back to 1999 and it is amazing how often I said I was going to get my weight under control. You could tell when I would lose my battle because my journaling (or as I call it conversation with myself) would either refocus on some guy or just drop off. The most telling was I had a journal I called conversation with God that I just quit writing in and I picked it back up last night. To say this has affected me in every aspect of my life would be an understatement. I won't tell you it has all been easy, it has not. There were days where I was like, what did I do. Speaking to most post-ops that is pretty normal. There are days I have to make myself do the right thing, take my vitamins, take my calcium, and get in my protein. There are still days I wish I could have a hamburger, but those times pass, and I have noticed don't get me down like they used too. So I want to thank my Dr...Dr D, you are great I want to thank his staff, which is amazing; the after care is really what is making this journey amazing. I want to thank my parents, who made this journey possible and supported me all the way. I want to thank my online support groups...ya'll are amazing I want to think all the people at BSC Dallas, it is the other post-op patients that give me inspiration (both pre and post, because one reminds me and the other inspires me). Most of all thank you God for both giving me the courage to go through with it and the guidance and patience as my post-op journey as begun. See ya'll next time
6 weeks out 38 pounds gone
Topic: RE: When to start back at Curves?
Lori,
I have a personal trainer who has worked with me for a year, shes handled lots of people whod had the surgery and she made me wait 8 weeks. I had my surgery may 12th and Im headed back to the gym Monday! Im excited because I only lost 11lbs this last month which was enough to make me cry..lol. I know its because I have NO metabolism and I dont get enough excersize. Im excited and I wish you the best.
Topic: When to start back at Curves?
My open RNY surgery on 5/27/03, and I'm anxious to start excercising again, but I don't want to "break" anything or hurt myself. I'll start slowly and I love to walk, but it's been really hot here, and walking in this heat wears me out! I have a membership on hold at Curves and I'm wondering when I should start it back up again. I'm thinking at 8 weeks post-op. Any suggestions?
