First honestly check what you are eating. Carbs have got to go if you are a slow loser. Protein, veggies, and low-carb fruit (if any). As you said you are not exercising -- you MUST move. I myself honestly hate to exercise but if it's only 1-2 miles per day at first -- do it. Anti-depression meds can sometimes add weight, although Wellbutrin may curb some peoples appetites. Grazing will sabatoge your weightloss also, so if you must munch -- make it protein or veggies. Drink all the water you can manage and "if" you drink protein shakes (which I do) this helps to get all the protein in. Discuss your concerns with your WLS doctor and get his/her suggestions. Go to support groups and see what others are doing. Most of all, be proud of yourself for the weight you've lost and know you CAN get things kick started again.

Eighty pounds since May 28 and still rolling. I agree these times are getting easier, but will be so glad to get into a size 10! Keep the progress strong and good luck to everyone!
Topic: Too slow for me!
Hi everyone. I have read all your great stories on your accomplishments in loosing weight....I have found myself at times very frustrated because my weight is going too slow for me...I don't do much excersice and some how I do eat fairly well...not like I used to, but I still have that constant munching sensation...I am taking Wellbutrine to help me control it, but it some how does not seem to help me...I am taking a large dose of it tooo...Maybe I am eating the wrong things...I do try to balance my intake...Can anyone out there give me their daily meal routine on what they consume to give me a better idea as to what I am suppose to be doing...some of you are doing great and I am proud of you out there...My weight before surgery was 256 and as of today it's 205, it is just so hard to reach the 200 goal....let me know if there is something out there that can help me get back on track to shed these lbs....thanks for your concern...Lizzie

Jeanette,
I have to say I am envious of your loss. I had my surgery on 5/13/03 starting weight of 238.5 I am down to 190.5 for a total of 48 pounds. My tenative goal is 140 so I have 50.5 pounds to go. I'd like to be about 125 but I'll be very happy if I can make 140.

I am almost 5 months out and am really picking up with the weight loss. I thought I would start to slow down by now. I had a great week, losing 5#. I am under 200#, have lost a total of 71#, and am really proud. Many people, especially at work, have made mention about me losing weight. My next goal is to be to 175 by Thanksgiving. I have 2 months to lose 20#s. I think that is doable! That will make it 91# in 6 months. I wanted it to be 100# down by 6 months but won't be crushed. I have learned that it is more important to focus on where I am going than being hung up with all the numbers. I just want to be at goal by my 1 year anniversary. That is 60 more #s, I am over 1/2 way there!
How is everyone else doing? Stats anyone??

My anniversary is on the 27th - FOUR MONTHS ... boy have these last two months been easier than the first two. I haven't had any surgery complications - no dumping, vomiting, etc. - but just felt weak and not ME. I've lost 66 pounds - and I'm hoping for at least a couple more before the weekend. Keep on LOSING Debby!

Laura - you're doing so good! I wish I was a little closer to the MINUS 100 pounds - but it is within site -- in a few more months! Keep it up - you're lucky to have support groups in your area.
Topic: RE: Hair Loss - HELP!!
Hi patricia,
I wanted to let you know that i too have been having a lot of hair loss. I went to the DR and they told me that you need more protien. I have been able to do that by eating turkey, chicken, and fish. However if you are not able to eat those things yet, you can try a produckt called KPAK, by Joico. It's kinda pricy, but it does work. My hair was falling out like mad and since I have been using that it has helped. You will probably have to go to a salon to get it. Just to let you know, I have worked in the beauty supply business and as for Nioxen, it probably would help, but that is a lot like Rogain, which is a drug for your hair and when you stop using it, it starts to fall out again. I have lost 73lbs and I'm about 4 months post-op. Just be patient, it will start to grow back, mine has. Good luck on your progess!!!
Topic: RE: Hair Loss - HELP!!
I too have been having alot of hair loss since about 3.5 months out. I am down 47 pounds and like you all I get the protein and vitamins in. I really don't think it is a deficiency because my nails are healthier and stronger than ever. I do think we just have to wait it out. I have used Nioxin products since just after surgery and I love it though it is expensive. It makes my hair feel much thicker and healthier. Nioxin helps new hair growth but will not stop hair from falling out but promotes new growth. I had my hair trimmed yesterday and my stylist did say that she could see new growth.
