I had exactly 110 pounds to go. Feel pretty good, lost 70 but it has slowed down. Try and drink water, but only get about 29 ounces a day. Protein and carbs are about the same. I eat about 8 ounces a meal and snack 3 times. only lost 5 pounds in two months. Is that normal, worried I am eating too much during the day. How much should you be eating now, surgery was 5-20. Also, hair is coming out alot. Not too worried about that yet, doc did say it would slow down when I reach goal. Any info would be helpful, thanks, Suzi

Hello michelle. First of all congrats on your loss. even 1 lbs is better than none. I had my surgery on may the 8th and had some complications. so far i've lost about a 100lbs. when i went to the doc last the "numbers" had shown i had lost 6 lbs. i freaked out! i was extrememly mad at myself and the world. i mean i had pants that fell off of me but fit fine the week before. but my doctor and his staff kinda laughed me. they explained that while i was losing inches i was gaining muscle mass and muscle mass weighs more than the fat. so i'm losing in shape and size but numbers are slow. and i recently got on a scale and i'm sure it was wrong because it said i lost almost 130 lbs. so don't be intimidated by the numbers. if your shape is popping through then that's all that matters!

dear friend... i had my first weight loss surgery 12yrs ago... i feared i had stretched my stomach over and over but up to this surgery i really hadn't.. I still could ONLY consume about "two taco's at taco bell or eat about almost a child plate at a mexican resturant" that saying... let me tell you i GAINED back all my weight from the first VBG i had...YEP gained it back.. cause I ate all day long.. NOPE not alot but all day long like a jersey cow! thats what I have learned... I dont think there is a stretching tummy out for me as much as WHAT i put in that tummy thru the day that will be my problem... or most of our problems... wishing you luck... sounds like your doing great.. I had a revision of a RnY May 2003, no i confess I am not exercising this past month like i should.... no excuse.... I know my grace period is running out ... no excuse... sounds like your more motivated than me on that score.. so Im just going to say ...WEIGH to go.... your doing great and ..."we can do this!!!" Massive hugs!!! 40lbs to goal here!!! was in size 22 now in size 14

Hey Lizzie... please please dont be discouraged... your doing wonderful.... since you aren't that OBESE compared to many your weight loss won't be as fast as say some that have to lose 170lbs or more.... after you lose even tho you may be around 170 or so you will see that sizes of clothing are small due to denseness in our bones.. so dont think you gotta be 130 to get into a size 3ish thing.... I have lost 80lbs but the thing im firm on now is that PROTEIN does work... intake in drinks or meats or how ever... please up that protein ... its easiest to drink but oh well... I drin kit cause im so fearful of over eating.. I already messed up once on weight loss! your doing terrific.... just up that protein.. major up it for a few weeks and do your self a test and see if your weight loss doesn't kick in.... BOY MINE DID! best wishes.. *hugs*

hi there.. my surgery was in the same month... I have to say this..YES protein drinks suck but......they have their purpose... pinch the nose...and swallow em.. I swear it works.... I would almost eat the most disgusting thing if i had to ...for the results I have seen doing the protein drinks... When i slacked off them i stopped losing... when I used them i lost.... if all else fails..pinch the nose... LOL kills the taste LOL read my profile .... i stopped almost losing and decided to UP my protein to 2X a day and WOW this last week i have lost -5lbs... that aint happened in months (losing that much in one week)... so im going to keep'a doing it! make sure you get a good protein drink tho.. without lots of sugar and carbs... (we can only ingest 30grams at one serving By the way) some protein drinks out there that aren't as good as others.. read those labels... I went with Real Meals but there is others as well..... its bland but it is loaded with good stuff... Good luck in what ever you chose.. for myself - im not wasting my honeymoon.. im going for the *goal* lol

I was 5 months out on 5/27. I've been pleased so far with my overall weight loss. Have about 35 to 40 more pounds to go. HOWEVER, it seems like I'm stuck in the same place now. It's been nearly 3 weeks since I have lost anything and last month it was only 8 pounds. I'm really weirded out by this. I'm still being pretty faithful to the plan - though I am able to eat slightly more now, than at first. But I keep my food to 1/2 cup each meal. I guess I'm asking those of you who have had similar surgery dates - if you've experienced any prolonged plateaus at this point in the journey. I'm about to go to the dr. and DEMAND that I see my chart. I'm wondering if he even bypassed me at all -or if he just shrunk the tummy.

I understand what you mean about feeling like it is coming off so slowly sometimes. I go through that once in awhile and feel like I am not doing as well as others. Remember this, it has and will continue to get harder the closer to goal you are. Keep your plan in mind and remember what you have to do to get where you want to go. You are more than 1/2 way to your goal and have more than 6 months to get there. I had surgery 5/9 and am almost 6 months out and have lost 79#. I lose between 8-10# each month. Could it be better, sure. I just have to look forward to all the things I can celebrate in the months to come! I have ended up setting small term goals for myself, like a month in advance, 2 months in advance. That is a lot easier to think of, than that ideal goal weight. Try setting a Thanksgiving and Christmas goal. You will be so pleased when you blow it outta the water! With protein, I found a premixed juice that is somewhat terrible, but I can tolerate it. It is called Isopure. I have also snacked on the protein bars but they are really heavy for me. I eat potatoes, and carbs all the time and don't seem to have tons of trouble, some dumping symptoms if I eat too much. I have not had too much pasta and rice but not b/c it gives me trouble, just b/c I really don't care too much for it. Keep your chin up and remember that you still have plenty of time! Before long you will wonder what all your concern was about! =) Jeanette LapRNY 5-9-03 264/186/??145??
