I love it! Before surgery people didn't know me because I had gotten so big......now they don't know me because I have lost so much weight. Got into my first pair size 14 missy jeans since the 70's. I feel very blessed that my surgery did so well.

Hi Jamey, I like you; and a lot of others am frustrated about my slow weight loss also. I had my surgery 5/28 and I have lost only 73 pounds so far. This wouldn't be so bad except I have a very long way to go. 162 more pounds for me to get to goal. I try to not think about it either and just stay focused on my goal. But, we have to give ourselves a break and realize that just like our old eating habits; our habit to want to drop pounds quickly and get discourged easily is still going to harang us. You are going in the right direction. Just keep chugging along. And, know that someone else is out there chugging along with you. Good Luck!

Hi Suzi You need to increase your water for sure. It is said that we need to be doing at least 64 oz of liquid per day. If you don't like water, then add in some Crystal Light, Propel, decaf coffee/tea, etc. In terms of how much I am eating at 6 months postop, I eat about 4 oz to 6 oz per meal - 3 meals per day, and if I get hungry between meals I will have 2 small, high protein snacks such as 1 oz of non-fat cheese or beef jerky. Also vitamins are vital. Hope this helps, Caroline

Hi, I also had my surgery on May 13th, 2003 and I began at 376 and now I am at 223. I am also ready to begin researching the plastic surgery possibilities. I have not yet reached a pleatuea for the 2-3 month period but I know that I will continue to search for the right dr. now so when I do I will be ready. If you get any good leads let me know too!! Congratulations on your success and goodluck in the future!

Hi Mary! Congratulations on the weight loss to date. I, also, had surgery on May13, 2003. The day of surgery I weighed 240, and today I am at 157! A few weeks ago I went for an intial consult with a plastic surgeon. That was a very hard experience to get naked for the exam, but I managed. What I learned was that I am not quite ready for this type of surgery, yet...due to the fact I have yet to reach a plateau for at least two - three months. I am still losing! I do not reqret going for the visit since I am researching the doctor that I feel will be the best for me. I plan to consult with several in my area and my health plan network.

Hi, I am down 90 lbs and within 10 of my goal. I have a lot of excess abdominal skin. When should you think of going to see someone? Any help would be great.

Topic: RE: ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR HAIR LOSS
HI, JUST POSTED THE SAME THING A FEW DAYS AGO. I AM DOWN 75 POUNDS AND HAVE ABOUT 30 TO 40 TO GO. NOT MUCH BUT WILL BE HARD. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING AND WHAT MY DOC SAID. ALL IN THE PROTEIN. I DON'T DO MUCH PROT. EITHER. ONLY ABOUT 16 OUNCES OF WATER A DAY. IF I COULD JUST INCREASE THOSE TWO. HE SAID OUR BODIES ARE IN SHOCK WITH RAPID WEIGHT LOSS, WHEN WE REACH OUR GOAL OR CLOSER TO IT THE HAIR LOSS WILL STOP. I DO SEE MINE STARTING TO GROW BACK. ALWAYS HAD NATURAL CURLY AND THICK, NOW THIN AND STRAIGHT. I LOVE SALDS ALSO, NO PROBLEM WITH THEM. cHICKEN AND BEEF ARE NOT MY FAVORITES. GROUND BEEF IS OK BUT NOT ANYTHING ELSE. MY PROTEIN IS SO LIMITED. NEVER REALLY TRIED LIQUID. WELL, HOPE THIS HELPS. SUZI HINTZ
