Topic: RE: To my May Sisters and Brothers, how much can you eat now?
Hi Jack, Thanks for the post, I was eating very little carbs and was lacking energy, I went to a nutritionist, she wanted me to add back some complex carbs, fruit, grains, so I have added a minimal amount. Hope that doesn't hurt but I will soon find out. And if I eat my protein first like I should, there really is no room for carbs.... Today= water 2 turkey roll ups with low fat cream cheese, coffee crystal light small salad with 3 oz sirloin water salmon cake with green beans (2) Mushrooms (sliced) and 2 tbsp baked yam more water to come before the end of the day. take care MaryLyn

Carbs crave carbs. You almost surely have to go cold turkey. Need to up protein and water and nip this in the bud.

Here is what I am doing. I have lost 193 lbs since 5/22/03. I drink a protein drink in the morning. Then water. Lunch is a small salad and some type of protein or a scrambled egg. Protein drink in the afternoon. More water. Some type of dinner. Chili or a salad. Water as needed. I sound like a plant I do try and walk through the day.

Hi Candi, I will be a yr post op 5/17/04. I too was at a plateau at 167 after starting at 256. I went to Las Vegas and did tons of walking 2 wks ago and that seemed to jump start me. I can now say i lost 100 lbs as i am now down to 156 on my home scale. I think i needed to up the walking. Good luck...Kathy Y

Topic: RE: Weight ups and downs
I weigh myself every day and sometimes twice a day. I've done this from the beginning and it helps me keep things in perspective. This month I haven't lost anything. I would be so upset if I waited a whole month and then jumped on the scale and saw no progress. I'd rather know ahead of time how things are going. Since I weigh on a daily basis I really can see the fluctuations when I eat salty food. I can gain 8 pounds over night when I have bacon or ham. It all comes back off but it can be frustrating.

Hi Candi. I too am stalled. I get less then 1200 calories a day and I exercise atleast 300 calories off each day. Then when you factor in the bypass it means my body is seeing about 600 calories a day. You'd think with that calorie level your body would be losing weight but it's not true for me. I get in all my water and protein every day so that can't be what's wrong. I thought maybe my body was in starvation mode so I stepped up the calories for a week. That didn't work either. I guess it's just a fact of life. Not sure how long it will last but it sure is getting old. Hope you have better luck then me in breaking this cycle.
