I will have my 1 year on the 7th and I eat a ton! I am down from 256 to only 190, I still have 50 pounds to go. I really started eating better this week.
Topic: RE: I need Imput - Please!
Hey there Bege,
I have had the worst time this past month and a half with eating. I am a teacher and the worst thing for me was Spring Break. I swear that the entire 10 days off I was filling myself up some way or another. I actually got sick (threw up) after grazing all day long with a friend over, then trying to eat dinner with my family. Now that I am back to school I am better. I really go in phases where I will not be hungry at all, even miss a meal and not notice, then the next week or month I can't stop thinking about food! I have to admit that I am bummed about not losing a pound in the last month and a half, but I am not really depressed. I have been a bit more irratiable lately, but I think I am fighting a cold too and not feeling up to my normal self.
I hope you start feeling better about everything! Your 1 year anniversary date if coming up soon! Do something special for yourself like a massage, or manicure to pamper yourself in a non-food kinda way to celebrate!

Topic: RE: someone please help!!!
Here are a few thoughts I have on this problem.
I wonder if this is just one of the adjustment times, like it seems 6 months was for us. It seemed that we all stalled a bit at 6 months out too. I have lost 2 pounds since 3/9/04, a month and a half ago.
I also think that if your body was at that weight for awhile it will want to stay there again. I found a problem at 230, 170 and now again at 150. I know all 3 weights were where I had stayed at for a long time when I was dieting (except for the 150).
I would also check with your doctor to see what he or she thinks of your progress. Be prepared to give them specific information, like maybe a food diary for a few weeks along with an idea of how much exercise you have done in those weeks too. I had an aunt that had WLS, lost 100# (which was very little for what she needed to lose) and started gaining again. They ended up going back in for a revision and after making sure that everything was still the way they made it, they checked out her small intestines. She had like 10 FEET extra small intestines than most people had. At that point they decided to bypass more intestine b/c her extra intestines were allowing for too much food absorbtion. Not that this is common at all, but things like this do happen!
Good luck, and keep following the plan. It has to work at some point!

Topic: RE: abdominoplasty
Hi Jane,
Although I didn't request a TT, I did have Tram Flap reconstruction for Breast Cancer, 9 months after my WLS whi*****luded the TT to obtain tissue. My Tram surgery was March 8, 2004 in MD. I did have drains (5 total, 2 for breast, 3 for belly) which just needed to be monitored, emptied and removed in about 6 - 10 days. No other problems. I spent time in the hospital only because of the reconstruction. Recovery was slow but not really painful. I returned to work 1/2 days in 2 weeks and full time in 6 weeks. I have lost 155 pounds since WLS in D.C. on May 14, 2003. Isn't life grand now ? Good luck to you.

I am scheduled to have TT May 10th and would like to know if anyone has had Dr. Jawad do the surgery. Did you have drains? What was it like?? [email protected]
Topic: RE: Am I the only one??? (slow loser!!!)
I am a slow loser too and am frustrated and discouraged. And I am also thankful to have lost what I have but I didn't undergo such drastic measures to still weigh over 200 pounds. I lost 50 the first three months and for the last 11 months, I lost only 10 pounds every three months. I am down about 80-90 pounds now (I haven't been weighed on my doctors scale in 5 months and it does weigh me at more than mine does). Earlier this week I was so depressed about this that I sat down with jelly beans and ate them til I vomited. I did learn I can't take my depression out with food like I did in the past. If you want to do an accountability e-mail with me I would love the company. We could report what we ate and our exercise. Maybe we slow loser could even make an email chain to encourage and account to each other.

May 27 will be my anniversary - so have a little over a month to go!!!
I've noticed in the last couple months or so - I do become hungry more. I finally upped my food intake from 1/2 cup at a time to about 3/4 cup and that has helped me considerably.
My biggest thing is that sugar does NOT affect me adversely. Waaahhhhh!!!! I wanted it to!!! Sugar is my greatest challenge. And cookies .... oh boy! I got into some sal****er taffy the last couple days ... not a good thing.
So today - I'm going to try to start weaning myself back off the sugar. I think if I can do that I'll be okay. Keep me in your prayers!!! I know God can help overcome this battle.

Good for you Lisa!
The last several months the weigh seems to come off SOOOooo slow! I want to lose another 10 to 15 pounds - but am about 7 from my dr's goal. I hope that is off before my anniversary in May - but ... who knows at the rate I'm going now! *LOL*
I sent my application for EXTREME MAKEOVERS this week!
