Have you thought about maybe making your portion sizes smaller, then eating more often? How about protein drinks or bars? I know if I am tempted, I can easily slip a few chips or m&ms in and don't even really think about it. Sometimes you have to mix it up for your body to respond. If you are working out a lot too, you really might be building muscle (weighs more than fat) and not seeing a change in weight. These are just a few ideas I have tried to kick the weight loss in the pants agian.
Good luck!

Thanks Caroline,
I did meet with the nutrion woman again and she said eat more protein too. I am just so discouraged.

Hi C
Have you tried doing away with the evening snack? How about increasing your protein? Honestly, it sounds like you aren't getting in enough protein rich food. Also, what is your weight now? BMI aside, is it possible that your body is where it should be?
Sending smiles your way

Topic: RE: FIGHTING OFF CALORIES ... Dawn -So Barri help?
Hi Allee
I'm not Dawn, obviousely, LOL, but my guess is that you are right on the money with the idea that the bypass isn't making much difference in terms of calorie absorption. Even with 150 cm bypassed, my bypass doesn't seem to make a difference in the calories I absorb. (figured by a year's worth of charting calories in and out and projecting my weight loss, my weight is exactly where I expected it to be (see my profile at http://tinyurl.com/bkld and then the target/actual weight chart towards the beginning of my profile).
Hope this helps!

Candi,
I had my surgery on May 16, 2003, and I have lost a total of 126 pounds. I too had the problem of slow weight loss for a period of time, but I jump started the weight loss again by going on a liquid diet of protein and water. That seemed to help a lot. The weight started comming off again. Maintain the liquid protein diet for a couple of days and you will begin to lose the weight again. I have reached my goal with a couple of pounds to spare. Good luck to you. Don't fret. Everything will fall into place.

Usually they occur right after. Most surgeons test for them i had no problems until gall bladder went bad this past week. Good luck.

Hi there! Well when I feel good about surgery I read something makes me scared of death. The blood clots but esp a leak. I am very very short with all the people I come in contact with. Its aweful and I am trying not to. I feel that im very short tempered and scared silly about not having a success story. I have told myself to stay in positive mind set so this can go smooth from start to followup in one year. I really do think positive thinking is best but I have to admit that is not my mind set and that worrys me. How long out can you get leaks or clots? Help!

Dawn you replied to someone that you were eating about 1200 calories daily, exercising off 300 and with the bypass your body should be seeing about 600 calories a day.
I have been asking and asking - and no one knows ... so I will ask you now!
Where did you get the info that indicated to you that out of 1200 calories your bypass would be eliminating (malabsorbing) aprox 1/4 of the calories?
I was bypassed 75cm and I just don't see how it is helping me at all. Seems I am fighting off every single calorie that goes into my mouth.

Timely topic
The 27th is my monthly weigh in and picture taking ceremony - but I honestly do not think I will have lost anything this month. I've had months recently with 4 and 5 pound losses - but none with NO loss.
I am able to eat more now ... and do. About 3/4 cup at a time up to 1 cup. I eat more OFTEN too - which is NOT good.
I got a gazelle and used it faithfully until it started squeaking - and I got away from it. Have to get that taken care of and get back on it.
I do hope this is just a 'stage' and that I can lose about 10 more pounds at least.
Let's keep trying!

I came to the May message board for some support. I have read all of your posting and am getting depressed. I had my lap RNY on May 7, 2003 and am only down 67 pounds, I still have 40 to go. I know I can eat mor than normal, and nothing makes me sick. I am excited because I am down from a size 20 to a 12/14, but I want the scale to move. I drink over a gallon of water a day and exercise 4-5 times a week for about 1 hour and a half. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. I eat 2 eggs and Canadian bacon 2 oz, for breakfast. Lunch is usually yogurt, cheese or a salad and dinner is some type of meat a total of 8 oz. I do have an evening snack of nuts or low fat ice cream. Please tell me what the rest of you eat. I need help!!
