Hi Gene I am still about 40 to 50 lbs from losing all of my excess weight, but I can totally understand what you are saying. No matter how well I do with my weight loss, I still try not to be bothered by seeing temporary ups on the scale, yet sometimes it's harder to ignore them than other times. Sending smiles Caroline Lap RNY 5/2/03 367/183/150

Hi Cynthia!!!! I am home from my PA and AZ travels and can't wait for ObesityHelp Orange County Chapter's first meeting on the 24th Should you ever want an exercise buddy, please don't hesitate to join me in rollerskating, swimming, hiking, etc. I want to start upping my activity level again after being away from doing these things the last 3 weeks (when I was sick and traveling). Sending all my hugs and see you soon!!!! Love, Caroline Lap RNY 5/2/03 367/183/150

I wonder if we all are not just moving more now that the summer weather is here. I know that some say that when you are building muscle you will not see a drop in weight, but will see a change in body size. I know some of the clothes that were more snug a month ago are getting more comphy, and I haven't lost any pounds. I agree that I don't want my mind to screw up what my body is trying to do! I wonder if I am not just TOO comfortable with the way I am now and it is causing the weight loss to stop =S Gene, I sure hope you are right and this is a small holding patter and I will see results soon too =) Good luck to all! I notice we had the same surgery date. Don't worry. The weight loss will pick up. Mine did after a couple of weeks. I went on a high protien diet with increased water intake. That helped a lot. The weight loss picked up and in fact I reached goal and even a little under goal. My doctor told me to gain a few pounds, but I don't want to do that in the least. I am sure you can understand my reasoning. People tell me that I look sick, but I am not going to let that influnce me. I just hope this does not start a problem with my health. I will be happy just to maintain my current weight of 170 pounds. You have a great date. Your WLS brother, Gene

Hi everyone! I too had my surgery a year ago - 05/16/03 - and seem to be flat with weight loss for the past two months. I am grateful for the 138lbs. I've lost to date, but the numbers have stopped moving. I realize how comfortable I am living at 225lbs. vs. the 362 I started with BUT.... what scares me is --am I too comfortable here and subconciously not willing to loose the rest (approx. 60 lbs.). With my diabetes 2 being gone, no more high blood pressure or cholosterol I feel so free now! Sitting in restaurant booths, being able to "run", having more energy that I know what to do with. Those are just a few of the miracles this last year has brought. BUT.....I've stopped loosing weight. I feel as though I need a coach - to get me back into exercising, to keep me away from the carbs (even though they are not alot, they are obviously too much). I am now so aware of how important it is to make a total lifestyle change, to follow the food plan (which I did like clockwor****il 8 months out). It feels so good to ramble on here, I can't believe I've written so much. But I think someone might be able to relate and I really want to get over this hump. We are all miracles! Thanks for reading this! Cynthia

Helen, Pound down the protein shakes, water and walk walk walk. This is a proven plateau breaker. No carbs. Stay away from breads, potatoes and crackers. Best wishes. Don't worry. Everyone hits plateaus. Missy
