Here are a few thoughts I have on this problem. I wonder if this is just one of the adjustment times, like it seems 6 months was for us. It seemed that we all stalled a bit at 6 months out too. I have lost 2 pounds since 3/9/04, a month and a half ago. I also think that if your body was at that weight for awhile it will want to stay there again. I found a problem at 230, 170 and now again at 150. I know all 3 weights were where I had stayed at for a long time when I was dieting (except for the 150). I would also check with your doctor to see what he or she thinks of your progress. Be prepared to give them specific information, like maybe a food diary for a few weeks along with an idea of how much exercise you have done in those weeks too. I had an aunt that had WLS, lost 100# (which was very little for what she needed to lose) and started gaining again. They ended up going back in for a revision and after making sure that everything was still the way they made it, they checked out her small intestines. She had like 10 FEET extra small intestines than most people had. At that point they decided to bypass more intestine b/c her extra intestines were allowing for too much food absorbtion. Not that this is common at all, but things like this do happen! Good luck, and keep following the plan. It has to work at some point! Jeanette Lap RNY 5-9-03 264/150/132

Timely topic The 27th is my monthly weigh in and picture taking ceremony - but I honestly do not think I will have lost anything this month. I've had months recently with 4 and 5 pound losses - but none with NO loss. I am able to eat more now ... and do. About 3/4 cup at a time up to 1 cup. I eat more OFTEN too - which is NOT good. I got a gazelle and used it faithfully until it started squeaking - and I got away from it. Have to get that taken care of and get back on it. I do hope this is just a 'stage' and that I can lose about 10 more pounds at least. Let's keep trying!

Candi, I had my surgery on May 16, 2003, and I have lost a total of 126 pounds. I too had the problem of slow weight loss for a period of time, but I jump started the weight loss again by going on a liquid diet of protein and water. That seemed to help a lot. The weight started comming off again. Maintain the liquid protein diet for a couple of days and you will begin to lose the weight again. I have reached my goal with a couple of pounds to spare. Good luck to you. Don't fret. Everything will fall into place.
