frustrated
I have lose 78 lbs since May 13th. My weight loss has been great and now I'm at a slump. I'm frustrated and depressed. Since Aug 29th I have only lost 10lbs. I did lose 2 more but now they are back. I don't really know whats wrong. I hired a trainer and I've had 4 sessions. That is going well. I did eat a few fries and cookies but not even at the same time. Can anyone help?
Okay, first, breathe!!! Now, I see a lot of things going on. You are further our since surgery and your loss is going to slow down. You are also getting closer to your goal weight so you will lose slower. If you have recently began an exercise program, you have to remember that muscle weighs more than fat so you are developing muscles that weigh more. A few fries and cookies, while they are not a great idea, are not going to make you stop losing weight altogether. Remember, we have more than a year to get to goal so don't think you are going to stop losing unless you have returned to the lifestyle that brought you to where you were before surgery. I think 78# is great in almost 5 months! I am at 72# down. Take each day one step at a time and remember you are in this for the long haul and the weight does not have an option to stay on with all you are doing!!!
Good luck and keep your chin up!

Lori, I had my surgery on 5/20/03 and I've lost 78 bs myself. I have been on a plateau with no weight loss for almost three weeks. I even gained two pounds after losing it swiftly in the month of August toward the end, and now am stuck. I am told that this is normal at this time in our weight loss experience. Our bodies are catching up with us on our new caloric intake, etc., etc., but that we will start dropping again........hopefully soon!
Hi Lori! Don't feel all alone! My surgery was May 28th (Lap RNY) and I too am in a slump. I was on a platuea for 2 weeks, lost 2 lbs. and still holding. I have lost 77-lbs to date and I too feel disapointed that it's slowing down...but like the others said, it's giving our bodies time to adjust. We do have 18 months to get to goal, even though they say the first 6-9 months are the fastest. I'm just hoping to get below 200 before then...LOL!!! Stick in there, it'll come off when you least expect it. Have a great day and take care!!! Veige
