I know everyone says this but truly I've never heard of anyone loosing as slow as me. At 11 weeks I am only down 33 pounds. I get my protein in, drink all my water, and exercise. I am extremely discouraged and what makes it worse is my family doesn't understand why Im not loosing more.

Noreen, This is something I think you should talk with your surgeon about. I have an aunt that had to have a revision done after a year because they thought she had stretched her pouch out. It turned out that her pouch was not stretched, but they found that she had 10 feet of EXTRA small intestine. That means they should have bypassed an additional 10 feet of small intestine. I would schedule an appointment with the surgeon and talk to him or her about your disatisfaction about the results of the surgery. Ask him if there is anything that can be done to find out if there is something additionally you should be doing to increase your loss. The week before, write down everything you eat, portion sizes, drinks, and exercise including how long you do it. This will bring hard facts to him to show you are following the plan, but not losing. Good luck, and stay motivated. You gotta start losing sooner or later!!! Jeanette

I think that the less amount of weight you have to lose, the slower it goes. Isn't that what we've heard? I'm 5'10" tall and started at 260 (had actually lost 12 pounds pre-surgery -- whoo hoo!!), but I've only lost 49 pounds in 12 weeks. I think probably part of it is not exercising enough (back problem) - but also part is because I didn't have as much to go as some. (Making myself sound like TWIGGY here ... don't mean to do that, cuz the PHAT's a hanging believe me!! *smile*)

Try not looking at the lbs. everyone has a different amount in total to loose and will loose at a different rate at first. Remember a 200 lb person loosing 10 lbs has lost 5% of their weight, while a 100 lb person has lost 10%. My surgery was 05/06/03 and I have hit 65 lbs or to me 50% of my excess weight. My goal is 110 I started at 240. Muscle weighs more than fat if you are exercising you wont loose lbs. ASK YOURSELF, HOW DO I FEEL? I recently thought I was loosing too much too fast my Dr. did all the necessary tests and although I am loosing fast I'm the healthiest I been in years. Just like in school don't measure your success by other people. You are a unique person and as long as you follow your plan you will loose uniquely.
