Topic: Starting to Gain?
Has anyone found that being this far out, you've started to gain some of the weight back?
I did a horrible thing! Almost 2 years out from surgery (my surgery was 5/1/2001) I had a taste of sweet for the first time... and it's been the death of me. It has complete control over me again, and I find myself craving sweets all the time.
Since the surgery, I was always extremely hungry, and managed to eat more then most new patients (I had the Bariatric Rouen-Y surgery at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Dallas). I find myself consuming more calories then I should, and in this past year, I have managed to pack on 6 lbs. I was no where near my ideal weight when this began happening... I should still be losing, yet I am up to 178 lbs.... when I began, I was at 292.
I just started working out again, but I find food just consumes me. I think about it all the time, I want it all the time. Please help - if anyone knows what I could try to do to get a grasp once more on my life!
Thanks!
Mary

Topic: I'm still totally amazed!
Wow, I wouldn't have ever believed I would be sitting here posting as a post op....it took so long to get approved...but I refused to give up! Life is so good and I feel like a young girl again! I'm actually sick of dating....who would of thought I'd be complaining about that! Well, I am a happy girl...healthy and happy....it's been an amazing journey, certainly not the easy way out...I still have problems eating, but one thing I do know....I would have already gained back all that weight I lost if it weren't for the surgery! I still make poor food choices...that will probably never change completely, but working out and lifting weights has been my LIFE CHANGE and I know that my success will always depend on me...that this surgery is ONLY A TOOL and I must do my part in it! Congrats to you other BIG LOSERS! LOVE TO ALL....Beth

It has been 2 years since surgery and I am feeling better than I have felt in years. I have 50 more lbs to lose to goal weight. It is the hardest, but I am determined to get there. I enjoying shopping in stores and buying off the rack and not through the catalog. I bought a pair of panty hose at JC Penney. Hanes brand and was thrilled to be able to wear them comfortablely. I can't remember the last time I brought pantyhose at a regular retail store, outside of Lane Bryant and Roaman's and Catherine Shop.
I belong to the Y and that has helped me greatly. I try to exercise at 30 minutes a day. Those old cravings have returned and I have learned that I can't eat anymore than I can burn off. My metabolism is extremely slow.
I hope all is well with you and I will keep you in prayer and you prayer for me.
God Bless
