Topic: RE: Surgery is in a couple of days
So Jessie, how did everything go? I hope that you are comfortable and happy with your decision to have WLS.
I am having my RNY done on 4/25 and I am ecstatic...I am waiting for the moment to come where I will be self doubting my decision, it has not come yet and I have warned my husband. lol I have been a bit cranky, from the anxiety and feeling bored and not being able to eat solid food has been difficult. I just found a Protein drink that is only 100 calories and it has 17 grams of Protein...I went out yesterday and bought some more. I have been walking a lot and drinking like a camel (water of course) so now I am just waiting...
Looking forward to hearing about how your big day went.

Topic: RE: April 30th
Hello,
I don't have the same date of surgery as you, my date is 4/25. My friend is having her surgery the same date as you and she is having the sleeve done. I am having the RNY.
Maybe we can stay in touch? I am looking for people that are having their surgery around the same time as me, for a support and venting! lol

Topic: RE: Post Surgery Weight
You and I have a lot in common. I too am 5'2" and I currently weigh 215 lbs. I am having the RNY done on 4/25. I do have sleep apnea (I do not use my C-pap machine) I used to have High Blood Pressure (lost some weight, no longer on meds) the only other issue that I have is my osteoarthritis in my knees and hips.
The only person that supports my WLS is my husband...and that took some persuading. He finally went with me to the WLS seminar where I am having my surgery. I think that after the nutritionist passed around a plastic blob that looked like "fat" and it weighed 5 lbs, he was finally on board with me. She made him hold it for the duration of the seminar...needless to say, he finally "GOT IT!" lol
She asked him if he would like 19 more of those to hold onto for the rest of the seminar, he said, "Nope, I get your point."
My family does not feel that I should have the surgery and I seriously feel that my own mother is jealous of me! Which really hurts. She too has always been overweight and now she is 68 yrs old and she told me that if I really want to lose the weight then I would!!! So, I asked her, "why are you always complaining about being overweight, apparently you like it because you have not tried hard enough to lose it." I felt bad saying it, but I am so frustrated with her and my 2 younger sisters (who happen to be less than 120 lbs each!). They said that I am taking the easy way out. I have heardfrom co-workers that I was hoping would have been supportive, and they say the same thing. They tell me that I am not "fat enough" and that I would never get approved for the surgery. I have been told that my Doctor must be crazy to approve the surgery. It gets very frustrating!
I am learning to hold my own and take care of myself and that my health and especially my knees and hips will thank me later.
Good luck with everything and I would like to keep in touch.

Topic: RE: New surgery date
I was scheduled to originally have my RNY on March 14th, unfortunately there was an insurance issue. I am having my RNY done on 4/25, a day before you. Congratulations!
I would like to keep in touch and be able to support each other on OH.
Have a wonderful day and I will be thinking of you on your surgery date.

After a not so pleasant experience with Hershey...I am now scheduled for RNY at Reading w Dr Ceppa on April 23. Have been on liquids since Tuesday...and I think I am losing my mind. Seriously, am SO forgetful lately.
Best wishes to all in your procedures!

Great to hear how well you are doing. I know what you mean about it not sinking in that it has really happened. I had my sleeve on the 5th, came home on the 6th, and I have been flying high ever since. I had my first Dr. appointment yesterday and I was down 15 pounds in 11 days! WooHoo!!!
I know I am still on my honeymoon, but I really do like the results. Keep us posted.
