Well i got up walking maybe three hours after surgery....and so far doing great. I am off the blood sugar meds...and walked all the way to CVS and back. I too had the gas problem and im not sure how many oz i am getting in me but what i can say is im not hungry.

I have to agree, I am glad that the surgery is over and I definitely would not want to go through it again! It took me 3 days after surgery to pass gas, which made me feel so bloated and uncomfortable.
I came home Saturday evening and I have been able to shower, walk around the house and today I even walked our long driveway.
My husband has been wonderful and spoiling me by warming my blankets in the clothes dryer before bed, it is so cozy.
I was so proud of myself today, I was able to get in 42 ounces of fluids so far and still sipping.
My mom bought me some Ocean Spray 100 % cranberry juice, I almost mixed some with my liquid vitamins, then I thought, "I had better read the label." Sure enough 30 grams of sugar!!! It actually was a juice blend...my hubby can drink it.
Has anyone else had the pleasure of sneezing yet? OUCH!!!

So, I had my surgery on 4/25. Let's just say I would not like to go through that again. Am doing ok, stiches itch and hurt somewhat. Having problems with the walking and the drinking liquids. I feel so strange that I am not doing everything right yet.
Not having much gas or stomach issues, of course, still on the liquid diet. Don't feel hungry, so it is a struggle to drink stuff. I admire your discipline and courage.

Well, tomorrow is the day. I pray all goes well for you. This liquid free diet is going to drive me crazy.
I was reading some of your previous posts and it sure seems like you have been doing everything you are supposed to already. I am having sime trouble nailing down some of the behaviors. I'll get it together.

Your pre-op diet sounds much easier than mine. I am on OptiFast. 4 shakes a day. I am allowed maximum 2cups of lettuce, celery, cucumbers a day with vinegar or lemon juice on it. Clear calorie free liquids are also allowed. Yuck! I can't wait till be done the shakes. Less than 3 days!! I too share THE surgery date

My father's side of the family has ALOT of health problems-heart, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes etc. All 3 of his brothers have had heart by pass surgery and one passed away after a second major heart attack. One of my cousins (who is closer to my dad's age than mine) had gastric by pass June 2010 and told me it is the best thing that has ever happened to her. She was also surprised that I do not have any of the health complications that she and the family had. We both figure it is just a matter of time due to family history and my weight. Ticking time bomb so to speak.

I don't have the same date of surgery as you, my date is 4/25. My friend is having her surgery the same date as you and she is having the sleeve done. I am having the RNY.
Maybe we can stay in touch? I am looking for people that are having their surgery around the same time as me, for a support and venting! lol
I am having my surgery tomorrow the 23rd. And we live in the same state. Best of luck to you.
