I'm feeling the same way....kind of REALLY confused about food. I'm only 6 days out, but, I'm still confused. It takes awhile for everything to settle down and make things right again with my organs, but no one really gave me a frame of, "Ok, at 1 week out, your eating will probably look like this.......and at two, like this........." I think thats why I'm confused. All I have is the nutritionist paper saying you need 70-80 grams of protein and 8 glasses of water and heres what you can eat.

uhhhhh.......I know I have to work my way up to it, but whats a normal amount of protein for a week out, or two, or three?

I'm also still in a bit of pain. I'm pretty sure its not gas pain, but like...insision pain. just general pain that I'm trying to work through by walking and doing and resting.

Otherwise, friends and family have been telling me I'm doing a good job. My dad is mailing me a scale, so, I don't have one in my room yet, but, it may be a fun surprise to wait until my 2 week-appt on the 11th. I guess we'll see!

and meemhull. I think what you're going through is normal. Its funny, I was talking to my dad and I was telling him about not being able to finish things....that I was just full. He said, "Well, don't force yourself, thats how you got to this point in the first place." I laughed so hard (even though it hurt) I think if you are having your protein (with water) you are getting your protein and your water in. How could that be bad? Your body is still adjusting. it takes upward of 3 months for our bodies to adjust to any change. Physical, emotional, mental....no matter what...this is ALL THREE. Its going to take its time changing. and we're going to be there for it, just like its always been there for us. :)

Go Team April!

I'm still not sure about the whole no hunger thing. I have a couple days I feel like I am starving all day and then I have a couple where it is 3 in the afternoon and all I have had is a protein shake. I heard it takes time to get all the hunger hormone out of your system. Maybe that is it. I am still on liquid diet for 9 more days, doc requires 3 weeks. How is everyone else doing with hunger?

I hope you're feeling better, I know things are still painful 2 days out, but slow and steady wins the race!

I see I missed your surgery day, but I still wanted to say congratulations.  I hope all went well and I wish you the best on your new journey.  I just had my RNY on the 19th.  It hasn't been bad at all, although I'm struggling a little with some head hunger.  I'm a piece of work in progress.  I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hey there.  Good luck on your upcoming surgery.  I know you're probably freaking out, but it will all be worth it after your surgery.  I just had RNY surgery on the 19th and I went home the next day.  I'm doing well.  I'm not really hungry, but I have a lot of head hunger stuff going on.  I've been having a taste for some things that I would never eat; like chicken wings.  WHAT? I wouldn't eat that on a good day, so why is it in my head now?  I guess I'm desperate, but oh well.  I know it's all in my head, so I just gotta work through it.  This is a great website; we will help each other work through things.
