I know you posted this last month but I am feeling it here and now.  I've gained about 8 lbs and know why and need to get control again.  It's hard not going back to your old ways :-(

I have Dr. Casillas too, my surgery is April 8th. Which surgery are you getting? I can't decide between sleeve & RNY

We are guilty of it too!! Just plan better and do the best you can. When you start feeling guilty is when you really will start emotional eating!! If I take the emotion out of it, I don't overeat as much.

I eat about 1/2 a meal at a time. Probably a cup.

Topic: RE: What do you do when you have cravings????
I really didn't have cravings a few weeks out.  Not for taste anyway.  I had texture cravings.  Being on liquids still at your stage, I was craving something I could crunch.  I crunched on ice, that helped a little.  At the point I'm at now, having cravings usually means that I am thirsty, so I try to drink more water and that makes the cravings go away.

Hi, I just discovered the April 2010 board...I am so happy to have found it. We are all in the same place...yay.
It depends on my day as to how much I can eat.  If I go too long without eating, 4-5-6 hours, then I can only eat a small amount, like 3-4 oz. But if I eat about every 3 hours I can eat a whole cup.  One of my favorite go to foods is a 6 inch tortizza...6 in. tortilla, teaspoon of pizza sauce and about 1 oz shredded cheese.  Its only about 150 calories, I cook it in the oven until its crispy and it sits pretty good on my stomach.  But there are some days when I can only eat half of my tortizza and other days where I can eat a whole one.  I also have to remember not to drink to close to eating...this is still hard for me, I used to drink a lot while eating before surgery, its a hard habit to break.

I am so right there with you.  The past month has had a lot of things going on for me, but the last 10 days have been overwhelming.  And I have a sinus infection, so food doesn't taste right and I have found myself twice in the past week standing in front of the fridge looking for something but not knowing what!  This is what I used to do under stress.  I ended up choosing an orange or a sugar free pudding...but other times I have not made such great choices. And the stress had made me not want to work out...just too much going on, so I have let myself fall into that rut.  And the scales are showing it.  They haven't gone up, but I have been in the 230's since Jan. 5th.
I have got to get back on track!

Topic: Derailment by Stress...What a disaster!
I am no stranger to stress and anxiety and have experienced it many times since having my RNY, but this past month I have been overwhelmed with both and it has taken a toll on my state of mind. I am trying very hard not to slip into old habits but I fear that I am loosing ground in this battle.

This past week I got caught under pressure and made some very bad food choices and those choices only made me want to make MORE bad choices, which I did. Now the more I think about it, the more I realize that indulging in something not so WLS friendly is okay occasionally; however, giving in to that urge on a daily basis can really turn into a runaway train heading for derailment. I don't ever want to crash and burn, much less so prematurely!

This has been a very empty week for my diet; needless to say that I have to put on the brakes and get this train back on track, otherwise this could lead to major disaster!

Hi Channel, you were reading my mind with this post.  I can eat half to one cup of chili (depending on how hungry I am) with 1 oz. of melted cheese. 3 oz. of meat with a few tablespoons of veggies, one cup of yogurt with four strawberries, etc.  My question is, how many cals is everyone eating? I average between 950 to 1200 a day.  With 90 grams protien. My weight has been stalled for three weeks so I'm wondering am I eating too much...not enough???  Stalls suck esp. when you still have over 70 pounds to goal!!!

It really depends what it is.  Things like chili, or spaghetti and meatsauce, the total volume is about a cup.  Dense things like chicken breast fill me up more.  Chunky soup--I can eat the whole microwaveable cup full which is two servings (I don't eat all the juice).

Each day I eat an average of 1,600 calories-at least 100 grams of protein and 100 grams of carbs (good carbs--not sugar or white stuff).  And I eat all day long.

Been missing you on the boards!  Hope all is well.
