Topic: RE: Pre-Op Liquid Diet...omg I'm STARVING
I am in my 6th day of liquids and there are a few things that have helped me....   Oh Yeah banana protein, best thing to grab, has really really helped curb the craving for something sweet.  The sugar content is 3 and protein is 32.

I posted almost the same thing yesterday and someone suggested that I chew gum.  I hadn't even thought of that.  I immediately found some in a kitchen drawer and it truly helped my wanting to chew something.

Diet V8 Splash is really good, too.  Oh and sugar free popcycles have been great also.

Best of luck, know you're not doing this alone !

Topic: RE: Surgery April 15th!
Thanks for the support! I cannot believe it is only 4 days away! Was shopping today for all the stuff I will need for week 1 and 2, shopped all kinds of proteins powders and stuff. It was surreal. I just want it to be over, no complications and on the road to a better life!

Gonna give it a try.  Thx.  Its about 9 pm now, and I can kinda feel the growling starting up.  I will try just one or two little bits of yogart tonight and see if thats enough to stop it, if not, I will try moving one protein til later.

I'm right there with you ladies!  I've been drinking like crazy today...broth, Crystal Light, you name it.  I have a bowl of jello in front of me, but I'm not a big fan so it's going slowly.  I went out today and tried to stay busy to keep from thinking about it (bought cute shoes! ) but now that I am home it's a little harder to stay busy...but my laundry is all caught up!
It's really really not helping that I had to take a dose of Milk of Magnesia today to prepare for Monday.  I'm so glad my doctor changed his mind about a second dose tomorrow.
If anyone is up this late and bored, let me know!

I did, too!! But mine was after an appendectomy...every other time I've had surgery (I've had 7 under general) I haven't had an issue...but the appendectomy I did. It wasn't for several hours after surgery, though, and it kind of came out of no where!

I'm just worried that I'm doing this diet wrong in some way...so I think tomorrow I'll switch to clears to be on the safe side.

But DARN am I HUNGRY!!!!!! I hope it gets easier tomorrow...and Monday...!

Topic: RE: whats everyone postop eating?
Hi! I am 4 days post op from lap band and feeling SO much better! I have struggled to get my protein, too. My Dr. said 90 grams per day! Argh! I have been doing adkins protein shakes (mine have 15 grams),  choc. protein powder with milk or water (about 27 grams with milk), some isopure clear liquid protein (GAG!), some keffir liquid yogurt (11 grams per cup) and lots of water. I have been trying to stick with things with lots of protein b/c its a struggle to get enough per day. I haven't been doing too much "yummy "stuff (jello, etc) b/c if I "fill up" (funny to think of that as filling!) on that I haven't been able to get my protein. I can't wait for soft foods!! (on Tuesday April 20th). Hope this helps!
