Topic: RE: Pre-Op Liquid Diet...omg I'm STARVING
I'm on full liquids--which means I can have the "cream" part of the cream soups--so I put some homemade clam chowder through the Magic Bullet for a while until it was about like not-set pudding and had a very small bowl of that. Good Lord was that good. I actually feel "full" for the first time in two days. Not "stuffed" but satisfied, not hungry. I put the rest of the pureed soup in the freezer for post-op when I can have full liquids again...:)

Just have to make it through tonight and tomorrow and I'm THERE! :) Gosh I'm so excited! :)

Who is having surgery tomorrow?

Topic: After Surgery
Hi everyone, I had surgery on Wednesday April 7th 2010. The day of surgery I was so nervous as the anesthesiologist put me under he said good night to me and my response was I am not sleep yet. These last few days have been hard because of the pain and getting use to what my pouch can hold. I am still having a problem with the gas so my intake is not alot. Other than that I am not having any problems and I am looking forward to progressing as we all venture on this journey. To all of you with upcoming surgeries I wish you luck and I will be waiting for you on the other side. To everyone else lets stick together and be a strong support to one another because I am sure that everyday wont be easy and I can use all the support that I can get.

I just blog here at OH... But I think that no matter where you blog... it is for you; and if someone gets encouragement or inspiration from it, then that is an added bonus!

I'm on day four (of 14) of liquids... and it sucks!  Today was definitely better than the previous days... I am on OptiFast... 4 shakes (I chose all chocolate) and one soup (either chicken or tomato) a day.  I can have water, club soda, crystal light and sf Popsicles.  I have been dreaming of chicken... and almost had some yesterday... but at the last minute... I made a detour straight for home! Yea for me!

It depends on the type of diet you are on... I can't have jello or broth... but I am getting in 70 g of protein with the Optifast... so the hunger does go away... but I am positive I will never eat chocolate again!

Good luck... and I am praying for smaller livers!

Thanks everyone!  I'm going to try to squeeze it all in today.; the NUT's diet AND the bowel prep.  At least I'll be covering all my bases.  Had the diet's breakfast and at 2:30PM CA time I going to start drinking this huge jug of something that looks like nasty tasting watery stuff.  Oh well, it's worth the price in the end, better safe than sorry.  Then 2-3 hours later, I can continue the liquid diet for today.

----Good luck to all those on the road to surgery and to those who have gone before us! ---

I was on a 2 week liquid diet and still had to do the bowel prep.  Believe me, there was still plenty of bowel left to prep if ya know what I mean.

No bowel prep but I did have a five day liquid diet and had a small bm the morning of surgery. I doubt there was anything else in there because I only had jello once or twice a day and crystal light.

I would seriously question no prep whatsoever, they are rearranging your intestines and if any 'poo' gets in your abdomen cavity, that is some serious infection-life threatening.

If I were in your shoes, I would be proactive and get a bottle of miralax at the drug store and take it in gatorade (or whatever liquid your doc approves). I would have done it on Saturday since it wasn't on the 1 day diet.

But of course it comes down to trusting your surgeon. If you truly believe in his opinion, then just follow his directions. Good luck and I'll look for your update!

Topic: RE: whats everyone postop eating?
I am so jealous! I am 5 days post op and still on clear liquids. Isopro, water, decaf tea, jello, popcicles....I am so extremely tired and lathargic...So then I try to get more protein because of course I am not getting enough and then I almost make myself sick trying to drink so much!!!! This coming Wed I go to a nutrition class and I should be able to start adding some soft foods with maybe some more protein I hate feeling like it takes everything out of me to just put a pair of pants on! LOL then after all that they were backwards! Screw it i'm wearing backwards pants today :)
