Topic: Are they testing me?
So I get a call today from my surgeon's coordinator, Leiann. She tells me "The hospital called and said that UHC/COBRA isn't active" and that as of right now i'd have to pay a "hefty" deposit and sign a non-covered service form (policy).
I call UHC - they say the same thing, COBRA isn't active. ACK! My surgery is tomorrow! We conference call COBRA. It IS active (I mean they HAVE taken the money from my bank account even!) and that she can put in for a manual transfer of data to UHC. It could take 24-48hrs, though. I asked if there was a way to speed that up and she said no, that was the fastest. Okay. She hangs up. I'm still on phone to UHC. She documented everything, including the case number COBRA gave me. Also told me that it normally takes 30 days for COBRA to get things coordinated =P So, I am somewhat okay with the 24-48hrs.
I called Leiann back at surgeon's office and let her know what happened. She notated it on my account too, with the case number. Said she'd contact the hospital and let them know what was going on. It is "possible" I won't have to pay the deposit, but still sign the form.
/sigh
I was actually trying to not really think about it today - just go on as I have been. This throws a loop in that plan =)

Good Luck on your surgery. My surgery is scheduled for Wednesday and I too have the nervous "what ifs" and have even thought about canceling a couple of times. I know that this is the best thing to do and soon the worst will be over.

Of course.. prayers will be said for you. My surgery is in one week and my husband is coming with me and I wish he could stay home. He, too is not comfortable in hospitals and will continually pace until I see him and tell him to go home.
Best of luck to you, keep us all posted !

I will absolutely pray for you! It's so exciting!
My surgery is on Thursday and my hubby is not coming with me either - but it's because he's a huge pain in the butt in medical/high-stress situations, LOL

I like the Sobe's now post-op even better than I did before! I'm glad you like them. Target has their Market Pantry brand sugar free on-the-go drink mixes and they aren't that bad either. I haven't gotten a headache or a bad reaction from them. The grape kind of tastes like watered down kool-aid.
I'm doing great! Thank you for asking. It really wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Everyone is different and responds to pain differently, but for me...the worst two things were the Lovenox shot to the belly in the pre-op area, and the gas pain/chest pain when I got back to the room afterwards. The nurses told me that they brought me to my room way too soon, and that I shouldn't have been in that much pain once I was on the unit! The pain from the incisions are nothing compared to those 2 things. I've been home almost exactly 48 hours now and I've already been shopping twice. (It's good to walk walk walk!)
You and Rachel will be fine! I look forward to your posts from the other side. Please keep me posted!

Topic: surgery tomorrow
Tomorrow is my surgery. I find out tonight what time I go in. Unfortanately, my husband might not be able to stay with me thanks to his job not turning in the paper work for days off. I am excited, yet nervous and very scared. All the "what ifs" have me worried. I am not beneath asking for prayers, so will someone please pray for me? I have been praying as well and I am hoping that the surgery goes well. thank you
Topic: RE: April 26th
My doc doesn't require a liquid diet. Thank ya Jesus. I don't know why. Maybe it's because if we could lose weight we wouldn't need him lol I have to travel down to Denton on the 20th for all the pre op stuff and then wait another week for D day. I am soooo excited and soooo ready. Oh and I will be having by gallbladder taken out and a hernia repair also. I'm sure I will be extra sore from that but I figure no more than when I had my C Section. Good luck to everyone!
