I really like Sobe Lifewater and Glaceau's Vitamin Water ZERO, both of which are sweetened naturally from rebiana/stevia.

I plan on making some ice pops with it, too!

Topic: Pain medication
Wondering how long some of you had to take pain meds.  I am 6 days out and still seem to be needing my pain meds about 3 times a day.  When I get up, about 2 pm or so then before bedtime.  If I don't I get really tight in the tummy and find walking difficult.  I am trying hard to not take it; and feel I should probably be off it by now.  I have tried just tylenol without relief, then had to wait another 4 hours before I could take the pain med.  Also, not constipated, exactly the opposite.  Adding fiber into everymeal, but that is not helping much.  No nausea  and eating drinking is fine.

I'm sure you will do great. Just make sure you have an advocate there to make sure th nurses follow the doctor's orders! I'm 7days post op, bad, bad nurrses; great surgeon!

Thank you!

I agree totally. Could they have not called me last week? Then the 24-48hr thing wouldn't bug me as much.

I was 9lbs heavier when I left the hospital than when I wieghed in.  And it saddens me to think you had such poor care in the hospital.  I would see if they have a customer relations dept and also give the hospital itself feedback.    Good thing you had your sis along to be your caretaker.  Did they give you a spirometer to help prevent (signs) of pneumonia?  I am home and still use mine.  It makes me take that deep breath I otherwise forget to do. BTW 1 week out and the 9lbs are gone now.

The CNA's walked you to the scales. I think they kept it in kilos thinking I wouldn't know how my weight would convert into kilos. I made so many typos last night, still on pain meds!
I think it depends on each person/surgury type. Everyone talks about being constipated but I have been exact opposite since being home. The most comfortable position I can be in is standing/walking. I think when the JP drain comes out tomorrow, that will change.
I am very excited because thats when the real fun starts! 2 weeks after JP's removal, I get to start my water exercises again.

Good luck,
Chrissy

Absolutely you are added to the prayer list.  All will be fine and please look forward to to other side.  I was excited and scared at the same time.  Really strange.  And as I walked into the operating room; that was a moment frozen in time for me...But I am on the outcome side now, and looking forward to brighter days.  But still sore....

"Dear Lord, please keep all of the patients brave enough to endure the surgery they have scheduled tomorrow safe and healthy..Amen."

Wow, so sorry you have all this happen the day before surgery.  You should be unstressed going into surgery.  I hope this can clear itself up before you enter the hospital so its not on your mind.  It seems so unfair to be so close and have this happening.  Special prayers for you that everything works out.
