Topic: I've Been Banded!
Hello Everyone!

I've been banded!  I was in surgery by 8am yesterday morning (4/14/10) and was released to go home at 2pm.  I'm very tender and still have pressure, but am home and doing well with liquids. I've never liked Chicken Noodle Soup, but I think Chicken Broth is my new best friend!  It went down so well and felt so good in my new tummy!!!  LOL

Good luck to others that have surgery still pending for this month! You can do it!

Topic: Nearly 2 weeks out and doing just fine :)
It will be 2 weeks tomorrow since my RNY and I have to say I tink I'm doing pretty well. I have to remember to take my vit's and antacid 'script and to drink enough water, but I've been trying new foods...

So far I've tried
****tail shrimp
mini ravioli with marinara sauce
Caribbean jerk chicken meatballs
mashed potato's
NSA fudgesicles
NSA creamsicles
NSA popsicles
SF jello
SF pudding
Saltine crackers with peanut butter
split pea soup
tomato soup
quesadea (sp?) (like 1 sliver of one, lol)

So far everything has gone down ok, just remembering to chew a lot and try not to drink anything too quickly afterwards.

So far I've lost 19 pounds, seems like I'm at a little bit of a stall right now, but I seem to see things shrinking up a bit, lol.. guess the body's gotta catch up a bit...

Topic: RE: Footwear for walking
my husband and I both have them and swear by them. I can feel a difference in my calves when I walk. and I have arthritis in my knees and ankles and a lot of back pain but NOT when I wear my skechers! I think you will love them

Saw them being talked about on Dr Oz this morning and he says they dont tone u as much as u think, but are still ok. Dr Oz even has some, says he wears them in the O.R. !!

Congrats to you to Kim!.  I felt bad because hubby will be in the waiting area by himself for those 2 hrs.  But he can manage:-)  I will miss being able to see my daughter for those 3 days...but it will all be worth it when it's over.

I've become a fan of the popcycles too but I rather something I can chew:-)  Good luck and much prayers to you on the 20th!

Topic: RE: 2nd day of my pre-op liquid diet I'm starving HELP!!
OK... if you read my blog... you will know that for me, this Optifast has sucked!!!! I am on day 8 today... today is the first day that I have felt human... So I don't know what to tell you... (sigh)... I will say that I have been fighting the diet all the way until last night... then I just gave up... I have to get used to not chewing... not having that sensation of being full... that is just the way it is for me...

I am withdrawing from my carb drug... and it has been 7 horrible days... now... I am feeling better... but I don't think there is any easy way to go through this withdrawal period.  You body will fight you... but you can and must do it...

Now we know for sure that we have not chosen the "easy way out".

Good luck and many blessings...

Congratulations on your surgery!  I had mine on April 6 and feel so good I think I am going to have to go back to work.

I'm on day 11 of 15 for pre op liquid diet.  I agree, day 1 sucks.  Day 2 is better, Day 3 is easy stuff.  Get some Diet V8 splash juice, low in sugar and gives you another taste.  I'm also living on protein drinks (some are really really good) and sugar free popcycles.

The first 2 days I lived in the bath tub. Everytime I thought I would cheat, I took a bath. My husband laughed at me, but it worked.  Took my mind off of eating.

This is worth it !!  Let your body do what its' supposed to do and get that liver shrunk up before surgery.

Take care and good luck.

Congrats, I'm one day behind you, my surgery is on the 20th and I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM.  I'll be fine, but my husband is defintely NOT a morning person... not sure why that makes me grin, but it does.

Best of luck !!  I've been on a full liquid diet since April 7th, my doctor is very strict about that... but I'm dealing with it very well.  Sugar free popcycles are your friend !!
